Legal aid compensation???

I have seen news articles recently where a whole bunch of legal aid information was stolen including pretty much everything about the person involved.
I used legal aid during the last 10 years and my data will have been stolen.
There are a number of adverts that pop up on social media saying that people can make a claim and to follow the link provided. Call me sceptical, but I don't like following such links.
Does anyone know if it is legit that claims can be made? If so, how?
Apologies if I have posted in the wrong place, I not been on here in about 14 years and had to make a new account.

You might be able to make a claim if you have a loss. The taking of your information doesn't necessarily mean you have had a personal loss. Or have you?DaveKorda72 said:I have seen news articles recently where a whole bunch of legal aid information was stolen including pretty much everything about the person involved.

Ignore the pop ups.
Ok there may be a claim, there may not be. But if you haven't lost anything then there's no loss. If you are suddenly bombarded with fraud attempts while then there's something to consider.
But if you do something do so directly to legal aid. Don't use a claim company. All that will happen is that they will ask you all the same questions you'd answer when talking to legal aid.
And if there is compensation they'll take a split. And if you don't read all the T&Cs very very carefully you may end up agreeing to more than you expect, like a share of legal costs if you stop using them or possibly, them getting involved with any tax refunds for which you might be eligible. It's amazing what some companies will hide in the small print.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. How do you know that your data is amongst the set that has been stolen? The gov.uk page has a lot of of “may” in it. They haven’t said that everyone who applied is affected. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I've also been bombarded with adverts but also I'm barely a week gone by without another "sky support" team from India calling me. I quit sky over 5 years ago so I know these are scams. I'm having to block every call and it's often at times I'm waiting for hospital to call back or I'm in a crisis and I'm trying to fix a cancellation. I've been scammed so often but only fell for a scam once. Every parcel is needing a feevand every mail me your item and I'll PayPal on market place. I get thousands of spam emails daily and I'm always using spam filters but I do wonder how some of these are getting through as even the O2 filter didn't filter them out. I'm a vulnerable disabled adult with audhd. So I'm finding I have daily battles. 2026s battle is fighting for justice after the NHS delayed diagnosis of cancer because I was allergic to lidocaine. In the end I was told if I didn't accept it I wouldn't be diagnosed.
Yes I could be eligible but the information on the legal aid site is so confusing and I don't want to use a company that may scam me more.0
