Healthy weight programmes
These combine education (5 sessions) and fitness, and offer 14 weeks of free gym membership and swimming. Criteria and availability presumed vary council to council but thought I'd share.
I have always struggled with my weight and do far better in a support group session. So hoping with the combined exercise this attempt may be more sustained than others.
I had been looking for a gym to join, but as we are looking at moving didn't really want to commit to a specific area for a year. Adding whilst I could afford a gym, this free short membership will allow me to work out how often I will get to a gym.
Hopefully this helps someone

It differs a lot between various areas. Our council will give you a discounted membership but frankly I'd be eligible for that anyways due to my age. So not much help. But if you're living somewhere that has free sessions I'd certainly suggest it's worth a try.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. This kind of programme can be a great bridge when you want structure without the cost of a full membership. The mix of group support and guided sessions often helps people stay consistent because you are not doing it on your own. Fourteen weeks of free access also gives you enough time to build a routine before deciding if a paid gym is worth it. It is a solid option if you want momentum without a big commitment.

It's been great, I have a pretty good routine, and just about to buy 12 months membership at a much reduced rate which I wasn't expecting.dever33 said:This kind of programme can be a great bridge when you want structure without the cost of a full membership. I've noticed a huge difference in my strength and fitness, the weight loss has been slow but I've felt a difference in my clothes and I have lost about 2" from my waist.
Looking forward to seeing what the new year brings in terms of fitness and strengthMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
