Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another day of sunshine in store and a tad hotter than yesterday. The slightly cooler day yesterday was most welcome after the horrendous heat of Wednesday. It meant I got my post-caravan jobs all done. The washing I brought back got done, dried and even the odd essential ironed. Then tidied up the back garden a bit and gave everything a watering. Some stuff past redemption sadly and others may or may not survive. If this is the norm for our summers we may have to plump for drought loving plants I think.
Today just a quick flick with the duster and a trundle round with the vac and that will have to do I think. Not much else is planned, other than maybe a nana nap later as I had another rubbish sleep last night. Grr.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Lovely to hear from you Coxy, sorry you had to leave your job, I'm sure something will come along when you're ready. Have a good holiday.
We'll miss you taff!
Looks lovely out this morning with a few clouds, not as hot as it has been but good enough for putting oil on the decking. I did some last night on one side and finished power washing the other side so hopefully it will be dry enough over the weekend to get it finished.
It's real work today, the children will all be coming back this morning so the fun will begin!
Hope you're all well, take care. XX10 -
Morning, thanks Gers.
It's sunny here, going to be another nice day, it's starting to remind me of the summer of 1976, that was a hot 'un.
Well, we eventually got into Durham yesterday, had a nice stroll round . Had a coffee and a look in a few shops. A well known woollen mill was having a sale, there were some lovely cashmere jumpers in soft pastels, which suit me. Unfortunately the price didn't suit, even in the sale.
Coxy it's good to hear from you, I wondered if you were ok. You've made a lovely job of the seat cushion.
Glad your skirt was still there TA.
Allie, I've found that the dry clean only curtains are ok in a cold delicate wash if they're polyester or similar. I wrecked a cotton mix pair though, the curtain itself shrank and the lining didn't. This was even in a delicate wash.
I was thinking of buying an air fryer Remmie, when my halogen oven bites the dust, which I don't think will be long. This is my 3rd halogen , and I've had good use out of them all. The halogen, and the combi microwave mean I don't use the big oven much. Must say I'm tempted by an AF.
We're visiting a friend this morning, she's housebound but active still. Her house and garden put me to shame.
Taff, don't forget where we are, hope you're ok.
Sorry I haven't mentioned everyone that I meant to, but hope everyone has a good day, thoughts to the sad and poorly peoople, take care folks.

It's another cloudy day here! Yesterday the fog didn't lift at all. I drove up to the big town to hand over my Marks return and collect a new order too. I took away the soft plastics at the same time.Recently I decided to replace the plastic storage boxes which had accumulated, especially takeaway ones. I found stainless steel ones which can be used in the microwave as well as oven and freezer. They have glass lids with silicone seals (not for microwave or oven) so bit the money bullet to buy three. Not cheap but I'm happier that most of my plastic is gone. Still got some of the better ones but don't use them for freezing or cooking. In the same vein I've replaced my plastic measuring jugs with stainless steel ones too.I'm lingering in bed because there's a flock of swallows swooping and diving around the house seeking insects for breakfast. They're a wonderful sight, some even line up on the telephone wire to my house to pick morsels out of the stone wall. Once September comes they'll fly off again so I want to enjoy them.Today is unplanned and prob sky unstructured. It depends on the weather. I hope that everyone is doing well. Hugs all round.13

Good morning
A bright sunny start and forecast to be a couple of degrees hotter than yesterday.
Practiced on the new air fryer yesterday, did burger and chips. The burgers were perfect but I could have given the chips longer. I'll get the hang of it, theres so many more functions than my old basic one.
Tonight will be another experiment, practice makes perfect, so they say. Nothing else planned for today, unless OH has any ideas.
Izzy, I think our OHs were separated at birth. I left the skin on the chips, you would think I was trying to poison him,!
Cozy, lovely pew and a great job on the cushion.
Have a good day all, take care.9 -
Morning everyone it’s another hot one Coxy sorry you felt like you had to leave your job I will keep everything crossed that you get another one soon . I’m off to do my volunteering soon the food waste seems as if we are getting less and less food and numbers are going down but the lady who delivers it said they are not getting as much donated as there are more and more food banks opening. Then I’m off to the charity shop for the afternoon. Scarlet I’m pleased you enjoyed Durham you picked the better day to go there was a bit of a breeze if you had looked up you would of seen me waving to you from the top of a hill . Keep cool everyone and try and enjoy the warm temperatures while we can it will soon be back to chilly weather 🥶I hate the cold . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
I don’t have an air fryer - think everyone I know owns one! Might reconsider if we ever change the kitchen and get more worktop space. Not feasible atm.DH was out with friends last night and stayed over. I went to lock the back door and there was a mahoosive spider on the kitchen floor - think garden shed, big body and long legs. I was a very brave girl and managed to catch it and pop it out of the window. Really don’t like spiders!!I might go to the church coffee morning today. DH is at work and I’m missing social interaction. I popped to our local market town yesterday and most shops shut at 3.30pm so I just bought toiletries for the holiday and some wrapping paper - barely anyone about.
BIL has made a great job of the family bathroom - needs to pop back this afternoon to finish off the shower screen. Going to the tip later with bathroom packaging - always a cathartic experience.
Dinner tonight is a SC bolognaise ragu with some giant pasta swirls I got from A!di middle aisle. Might use up some courgette from the community allotment too.I might look into volunteering @IzzyBee - you seem to enjoy it.Hope the first day back with the children goes well @camelot1001Enjoy your days everyone and hugs to all those who aren’t feeling great x

Morning all from a sunny Mehefinland
Heavy dew overnight but it has burnt off very quickly - could really do with some rain. We are now officially in a drought area but no hosepipe ban as yet. I had a shock when I saw how low the pond had got - there must be a leak somewhere but I can't see anything obvious. Will have to monitor it. Anyone know any rain dances?
Popped into the library yesterday to pick up a book I had been recommended - there were more volunteers than customers! We have several family events on in the next few weeks so they were busy taking bookings over the phone. Library garden looking a bit raddled at the moment - need to consider different planting for next year. One fruit tree has died, but the other ( peach I think) has produced fruit! The lady who donated it said it had never fruited before - so we must be doing something right. The planters are drying out so fast though - I blame this peat free compost - it's rubbish!
Should be getting on with so many jobs around the house but cba - the outside is desperate to be painted and I even bought the paint but just can not muster up the oomph to get on with it. Think it is all to do with anniversaries/weight loss worries etc and general lethargy! Need the proverbial kick perhaps!!
Horses are casting covetous eyes over the electric fence at the 'slightly' better grazing, so I may extend the area they have a little. They are both quite plump so it wont hurt them to diet a bit - although they don't think so of course- Stomachs on legs springs to mind.
Blackberries and sloes are in abundance - and the elderberries are already starting to 'go over' as it is so dry. Somebody picked the apples that were growing in my hedge too - I was not amused as they took the lot - there only about six, and had obviously self seeded, but that wasn't the point!! Grrrr.
Hugs and spoons as always

Hello all, yesterday the weather was a bit miserable and I didn't manage to get on here as I overslept then I was rushing to get ready for my surgery appointment. More bloods taken for my kidneys then on to the GC for a well needed coffee, but no cake as my waist line is expanding more than I'd like. Spoilt my 👼 moment by visiting their in house bakery and spent a fortune on their lovely goods, best custard slices around ! In the evening a young 20 something man knocked on the door trying to buy Suzi Tank and didn't want to take no for and answer, don't think I'd have been so polite if I'd gone to the door when he wouldn't leave and kept on about it. Proper upset both of us so that neither of us slept well last night thinking he might come back and steal it ! It's still here thankfully 'cos I love that Tank. Don't think he could afford the insurance/ car tax anyway !
Today it's hot and sunny and we're going up Dad's to pay his bills online. He wants me to put away some too large sheets too, I told him he didn't have a king size bed when he bought as them he had 2 doubles, but he knew better it seems ! I'll take him a hm meal that I'd saved for him in the freezer and a bakery pasty, he'll probably moan about them but hey ho at least they'll be better for him than half a dozen biscuits. Later I need to mince up the last of the gammon and make some burgers, hopefully there will be enough for tea and some for the freezer.
Camelot hope you have a good day with the children and it goes very fast.
Scarlet I have an air fryer, I got one after my halogen died, best thing I ever bought and used almost every day, but lots of functions are not used like the dehydrator. I'd get a double stack one when this one dies though as I don't have much worktop space either.
Remmie you'll soon get used to the timings on the AF.
Coxy sorry you have to leave your employment, hopefully the right job is out there.
Sorry for the long post. Take care all.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Good morning all and thanks @Gers for the start. Another dry day is forecast with plenty of sunshine, a light breeze and top temps of 27 deg. I could get used to this!
The new laptop cover is finished, barring a velcro fastening. I'm sure I have some in my sewing notions box and will have a rummage for that today. It's just a simple bag with a fold over flap (fabric outer and inner lining with wadding sandwiched in the middle). On the subject of dry clean only curtains shrinking in the wash, I've been lucky with mine - so far. It's just as @Scarlet says, one fabric might be washable but not the other.
The only two planned things on today's agenda are the usual Friday admin and a search for velcro. After that, who knows?I could collect my next lot of repeat tablets from the pharmacy since they sent a text yesterday to say they're ready but it might be a tad too warm out today for the walk there and back so I'll park that till next week. I get three months' worth at a time so it's not too much of a chore. Tea tonight is a cod & parsley fishcake with mushy peas, a custard tart for afters.
@Coxy - Welcome back, I'm sorry you felt you had to leave your job and hope you find something else soon. In the meantime, try to enjoy the break. I know that's easier said than done though when you're used to being busy.
Have a good weekend all whatever your plans are. Thoughts and hugs for the poorly ones and those struggling with life in general. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10
