Hi, my daughter has just separated from her partner, the bank have agreed that she can have a new mortgage to keep the house (her ex partner has agreed) The new mortgage has not completed yet, my daughter asked the bank if they'd look at a lower rate following the recent interest rate drop, they wrote to her saying that the rate agreed was based on moving the mortgage to her and to avoid an early repayment charge and if they review the rate following recent BOE rate reduction, she would have to pay the early redemption charge. I feel they are holding a gun to her head! are they correct in what they say?0
