second home council tax

Can I rent (and live in) my parent's second home and take over their council tax as a full time student?

One of my children lives in a house I own - they pay the council tax as it is their main residence - we don't pay any CT there . As a student I think you are exempt from CT if you get a letter / from college

As tenant of the whole property you would be responsible for paying the CT. However if you are a FT student, you would be exempt from paying but you need written confirmation from your uni/college that you are a FT student
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
