Oral-B iO — Avoid full price! Where to find the best deals?

My dentist has recommended I switch to an electric toothbrush, as I wasn’t quite getting the technique right with a manual one.

She told me that several of her patients use the Oral-B iO3, and said that if I decide to buy one, I should definitely avoid paying full price — as they often come up on sale, as special offers, or as open-box and returned items.

There’s quite a jump in price between the iO3 and the iO4, but if the right deal came along, I’d seriously consider the iO4 as well.

Has anyone spotted any good offers or bargains on these models recently?

They're often on offer at Boots or Amazon, it is really just a question of keeping your eye out.

Boots currently has an iO 4 for £69

Or an iO 3 for £75

Don't forget to also look for deals on the official replacement heads.

HotUKDeals is a good place to look for specific item deals

    iO3 £50, although it's not on a site I've used.

Apparently there's now an iO5 too?

There's a few higher model numbers, but they are in the £200+ bracket

    Edit: for example

    iO5 £280

£280 for a tooth brush brush, that’s far from money saving!
The dentist was suggestion that the iO3 was more than enough but I would like to hunt down the iO4 - if the price was right.

I've found the iO 4 for £69 in boots.

I was trying to indicate the cost escalation with the higher numbers with my previous post, for £280 I'd be wanting it to give me a hygienist level clean!

    My 2d-worth:

Any of the Oral B brushes work pretty much the same as the more expensive ones.  Base vs iO included.

You are paying lots for a gadget with features you'll never use after the first few months... bluetooth app, multiple brushing modes, timers...

    imho

The use of manual Interdental brushes, TePe and similar, are much recommended by my Dentist.

If you want to keep it simple you could go for a Oral B Pro brush which is currently £25 at Tesco with a clubcard.  Mine works just fine.  Gives a little wobble when you hit 2 minutes so you know you've done the job.

The iO range is a superior toothbrush to the older ones. and for £10 difference for the iO3 - on a good deal - well worth it. A decent deal on the iO4 would be a brush with a few more features like brushing modes - but the actual brushing action if the 3 on the modes it has will be the same.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
