For me it would depend on current living costs and ability to make mortgage payments, you have to live somewhere.

You have full employment history and will obviously be open to taking on any role suitable

As far as the lender is concerned, you were on a 3 month contract that now has been extended to 5 or 6 months. Have they issued a formal notice of ending employment in October? A lot could happen between now and the, including them failing to have an FC able to start in October.

if you want to continue with the purchase and are confident of finding other employment I would go ahead.

And depending on what you’re buying, there may also be the lodger option? Not ideal, but sometimes needs must.

how long did it take you to get the job that you are in now?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • As I fellow accountant, I would not say anything and take the chance - I am sure you will find something else, given that you have got a good few years under your belt.  I am currently looking to take out a new mortgage (mortgage is paid off but am wanting to do some home improvements) - only about 40k, but I am wanting to leave my job, so I am sensibly taking the mortgage out now and once the mortgage has gone through I am going to look for another job- if I didn't do it now I would have to wait potentially another 6 months. Buying a house, taking debt on is always a risk, if you didn't take any risks in life you wouldn't get very far.

Probably just me, but as an accountant, contemplating mortgage fraud doesn't feel like a great idea.
Small risk, perhaps, but consequences are also potentially disproportionate in your line of work.
There will be other property, and having a mortgage to deal with as well as job hunting is putting a lot of pressure on you.
Personally I'd pull out before exchange, sometimes the stakes are too high to be worth the risk.

I had just started a new permanent job as an accountant at the end of April (with a 3 month probation period), when I put an offer in for an house (end of May). My employer is now not wanting to keep me on after doing my 3 months probation (they said its not my fault, they have changed their minds and now want a financial controller instead of a management accountant). But they have given me another 3 months to find a new job (until end of October).
What exactly has been done -
    - did you have a permanent job with 3 month probation, which has been extended to 6 months probation?
    - Or have you been given 3 months notice?
    - or have they verbally indicated they plan to give notice and go a different direction?

FWIW, I read that as 3 months notice of termination.
