Currently my wife is trying to sell her mothers house after her death.
However, her brother is being obstructive would it be best to use a solictor

Obstructive in what way? Use a solicitor to do what?0

Did her mother leave a will? If she did who did she appoint as executors. Has probate or letters of administration been obtained yet?
PS, this will be better posted on the deaths, funerals and probate board so I have asked for it to be moved.0 -
who has probate? ie who are the executors?
if you already have probate then not much a solicitor can do at this stage other than manage the conveyancing
is there a disagreement over selling ? the asking price ? the amount you will accept ? what should be done to house now?

To part answer my own question the siblings are joint executors.
