OP, you are posting a string of wildly over-anxious posts and making yourself thoroughly miserable by the way you are over-thinking and over-reacting to what are, in truth, complete non-events. Plenty of people catastrophise but you really are taking it to new heights (or depths).

I don't think you need employment law guidance so much as some help to address this excessive worrying, which I guess isn't a new problem for you.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Thanks, the other part of the story, that i havent told, is that this company have now come through with a better offer...they are now offering contract work to re-design some of their obselete products......but this seems odd bearing in mind how angry they were that i "broke contract" for the initial offer.....so i am wondering if their "beautiful new offer" is maybe a trap to get connected with me so that they can launch legal proceedings against me for jacking out on their initial offer?

Their initial offer was for a job that was going to be "taking things slowly like a hegdehog", and also, training up their current engineer in PCB layout......which to be honest, sounded like a non-job. (thats why i eventually jacked-out took a job with a different company).

..Also, i am a little surprised that they have work, since at the moment in UK, there has been a massive drop off in electronics work, unless its pretty directly related to work for the military in regards to Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

Thanks, what if they had bought a  new laptop for me to work on, and a new Altium PCB layout licence for me to work with......(~£2K for the altium,  and ~£1K for the laptop)
and  were these issued to you ?  did you fail to return company  property ?  if  it was never issued  or the your returned it  then it goes back into the pool of IT assets  of the business
... and can be given to whoever they recruit to replace the OP.
    exactly...

And they still need a new member of staff so these will just be passed on to whoever gets the role.

Its not clear if the software is an annual or perpetual licence but if the later there is no loss, if the former then its going to be a month or two of that licence as they find another hire and their potential notice period etc.

OP I think everyone has already told you this but you are doing a lot of assuming and quite literally are writing nonsense. Get a hobby and live your life. If you are not comfortable taking the second job offer then don't. It really is as simple as that. You are obviously afraid of them so just stop and move on.
