I am thinking of buying a new sofa from designersofas4u.co.uk has anyone had any experience with this company?  Are the sofas good quality? Is their aftersales good if anything goes wrong?  I'm a bit nervous about ordering a sofa online.

Not heard of them.  But most sofas in a certain price range will be of similar quality i.e. OSB/pine frame held together with heavy duty staples, with foam and material on top.  I have dismantled quite a few old sofas looking for useful bits of wood but never found any!  Most people have issues with fading/colour change or rips/tears that are not consistent with normal use.  I would perhaps get the best warranty/repair package you can afford, and always check the return/repair T&Cs.  You can even ask to speak to an agent if you can get through, and/or ask for the T&Cs in writing and have it clearly set out what their terms are.

Also don't keep it in direct sunlight, as it will fade and you'll be hard pushed to argue it's down to poor quality

The site looks a bit old-style. Have you checked their Trustpilot profile?

I agree very old-style website.  I did check Trustpilot (never buy anything online without checking), they have a 4.9 rating BUT there is a warning about potential fake reviews, so that probably tells me all I need to know about the company.
