Hello!
Long time lurker first time poster!
So a little back story… I’m 34 used to work in retail and was auto enrolled into Nest Pension. I had to leave work due to ill health around 6 years ago. In that time I’ve been slowly recovering and paying off debts and getting things in order.
Now I’m in a slightly better financial situation running my own moderately successful small business I want to start contributing towards a pension again.
Thing is my mind is boggled.
Main points - I would like to contribute little and often (with ability to pay in more some months and maybe nothing others)
I have a Nest Pension with a smaller amount in.
I don’t have a LISA.
I do have a Help to Save account in which I maximise the savings each month.
Am I better off contributing into the Nest pension when I can to keep building this?
Or start a LISA and contribute to this?
Or open a private pension ?
Or stuff tenners under the mattress?
It’s a bit of a minefield and the more I read the more confused I get!
Any suggestions from the amazing MMT crowd to help point me in the right direction?
Many thanks!
Taz

Help to Save is definitely one to prioritise while you are still eligible to do so and while the account is open (automatically closes four years after you open it and you can't have another). For anyone unfamiliar with it, see https://www.gov.uk/get-help-savings-low-income
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -

Are you a Director of your own Ltd company, or are you self employed?0
