Lowell settled default - O2 error

O2 incorrectly charged me £14. I called customer service, thought it was sorted, a year or so later I heard from Lowell. It was only £14 so I paid up not realising they would still raise a default on my credit rating.
I chased O2 again who confirmed the error was theirs in writing, and promised removal of the default within 60 days. 63 days later it is still there. Can O2 recall the settled debt or is it because I paid the default hasn't been recalled?

Presumably the default is on the Lowell entry on your file?
Because Lowell bought this debt from O2 I think your complaint is now with Lowell and you should raise it with them, in writing, headed Formal Complaint, and enclosing/attaching a copy of the message from O2
You should get there eventually0 -
I tried contacting Lowell. They argue I accepted the validity of the debt when I paid it. I didn't accept it, I just thought it was a small sum and not worth the time to continue fighting it.
I then sent them the e-mail from O2 but they won't act unless O2 contacts them directly. Are they in the right that having paid I can no longer argue?0 -
It got to this point without me having any knowledge of it as Lowell were sending letters to an address I left 6 years previously. They argue it was my responsability to update my address with O2. I did, O2 gave them a wrong address and have admitted this in writing blaming a 'migration error'.0

Stop talking to Lowell. Make a formal complaint, either through their website if it's an option, or snail mail, headed Complaint.
If they don't respond, or make a negative response, go to the Ombudsman. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I would expect Lowell to answer in the way they did.
You now escalate it but I am not sure whether this is an issue for the FOS or the ICO.
I think go to FOS as they have a wider remit
