HRP

I am a little confused regarding HRP. My daughter was born on 9 May 1985. I have gaps in my NI contributions for that year and when I have queried this before, I was told they can only look at whole years. Why do they not look at part years?

Before you go too far down the rabbit hole, are you confident that if that particualr year was full it would result in an increase in your state pension ?

If you have not already reached State Pension age, what does your forecast show ?
If you have already reached State Pension age, what is your weekly State Pension Amount ?
howm many full NI years do you have prior to 2016-17 ?
How many full NI years do you have from 2016-17 onwards ?

I've a nasty feeling it's that old chestnut: 'that's how the system works' = see https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/639b033fd3bf7f7f8e54ddcd/CF411_Notes.pdf
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

only complete years qualify for NI credit unless you earned  52 x the lower earnings limit.

if you did not  pay N I  C ,  or had elected to pay the smaller married woman's stamp,  from April  until  you claimed child benefit then you do not have a  full qualifying year.
