Moorcroft partial settlement

Options
Hi all, I have had many partial settlement offers from Moorcroft over the past year, haven’t been in a position to take one up before but I am now. Haven’t heard from them in a few months so made contact on live chat and they said partial settlements can only be discussed by telephone. Is this correct? Or rubbish? Thankyou

Are Moorcroft collecting for the original lender or a different debt collector?

If you want to make an offer, send it in writing, email is fine. Dont ask them what is available!

Hi, it’s a different debt collector, the cards were Virgin and it’s the confusing Moorcroft, Capquest, Intrum scenario…I did make an offer to them in writing by email but they didn’t respond and instead kept trying to call so I used live chat instead, made my offer and she said they can only discuss a settlement offer by telephone

Because they intend to bully you into paying a lot more.

Please stop contacting them. It's unwise. They will now assume two things.

That the offer you made is the minimum they can get from you and be happy to double it.
That since you've got the money to make an F&F they can push you into higher regular payments.

It's probably going to be a year before they make you another offer and it could be higher than previously.

They offered me a 60% reduction a couple of months ago, I responded to them to say that my Dad had offered to gift me a certain amount that would enable me to settle the debt with an 80% discount but he could not give me anymore. They said I needed to call and I said I would not be calling. How is what I have done unwise?

They now know that they can tap your dad for money as well as you. Just wait until they offer what you want to pay.

Never divulge the source of funds, and never start with your best offer, always start low, you can always offer more.

If you start with your best offer, and its refused, you have no where else to go.
