Christmas decorations.
Get together with 11 other families and agree to take turns celebrating Christmas and New Year every month. So you could do December to 1st Jan then the next family could have the decs on the 2nd of Jan to 1st Feb and so on...
This cuts your annual spend on Christmas Decorations to 1/12th of what it is today!
If we all did this think what it would do for Christmas shoppers everywhere. No more having to fight with everyone else doing their Christmas shopping at the same time, you only get 1/12th of the people out there!
Travel
Ditch the car and hitch hike everywhere. There are always people going your way. If they don't stop, just jump on and cling on for dear life until you reach your destination.
House timeshare
Live in your house in shifts with another family - Now that both parents work and are never home for more than a few hours a day, enter into a timeshare agreement with another family who would work/ go to school at nights and sleep during the day. This gets close to 100% utilisation on all the furniture etc. Also it means your house is never empty and thus burglars are deterred.
Does anyone else out there have any gems to share?:D
