thanks SimonSeys - I have never heard of disability leave in my part of the CS - I will ask my HR as I am now on half pay.  Occ health review says not a permanent enough illness to qualify for retirement as chances of a long slow recovery - but Occ Health  dr report says they think may take me a year to recover! So stuck in a limbo between either leaving with a c30% early pension reduction, or being on half then zero pay unless I go back earlier than recommended...

Can you say which Department?  (Please don’t if you think it will be outing.)

Disability means long term which is defined to be >12 months.  HR can be good, but can be poor - depends on whether the individual HR rep has experienced something similar previously.
