Alternatives to LinkedIn for job search?

Options

Can you suggest some sites for looking for a job in Europe? I'm open to different countries (the UK, Ireland, and Germany in particular), but I can consider other options as well. I'm tired of using LinkedIn, and I would love some alternatives.

Thanks!

  • In the past I have had success finding IT contracting roles in both the UK and Switzerland using jobserve.com, but in my experience, that seems to have gone a bit downhill in the last couple of years.

My last 2 roles came from the agent contacting me directly on LinkedIn after finding my profile as a match for the role for the first one and direct contact from the agency for the second because I had been in contact with them in the past for a role I didn't get.

So, even if you don't want to be actively looking on LinkedIn, making sure your profile is up to date and you've got the "open to work" option turned could be beneficial. Plus, it would also be a good idea to start building contacts with the major agencies in cities that you think would be suitable for you to work in as a lot of the time, before they even advertise they will look through their contacts to see if there is anyone who might be suitable.
