Resolve Call Home visit

Hi, this morning I had a visit from a resolve call agent. This is apparently in relation to a very old (over 20 years) HSBC unsecured loan - I did not acknowledge any debt - just told him I had no idea what it was, and he couldn't give me any more details and that I would need to call Capquest - which he offered to do there and then, which I didn't. He has left a card with contact details and account number for me to call them later.
Now, this debt as far as I can tell is statute barred - I haven't made a payment or acknowledged this debt for well over 20 years ( I believe the original agreement was made in 2000/1) and I don't even remember when the last payment was made - but it was definitely in the early 2000's). In all honesty, I can barely remember it. I have had sporadic letters over the years from different debt collection agencies, but have ignored them all. And I definitely haven't made a payment or acknowledged it in the last 6 years.
Can I just send them the statute barred letter? And do I send it to Capquest or reeselovecall or both?
Would appreciate any advice here!

You should have just ignored the door knocker, don't poke it any further just ignore until you get a letter sent by snail mail, if you do come back for advice. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0

If i'd have known, I'd have ignored the door.
Is he likely to return? Or will they send a letter?0 -
I doubt he will come back so just hang on and see if you get a letter. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.1

Normally Resolvecall would not just turn up. They would have written first, and whoever owns the debt (Capquest by the sound of it) would have written before that.
If you can find the letters and it is definitely what you think, with no court claim and more than 6 years of no acknowledgement, then send a statute barred letter.
Otherwise send a prove-it
The danger of firing off a SB letter is that you are saying 'this is my debt and it's statute barred'. If it turns out to be something different that they are trying to pin on you, you have complicated things.1 -
I may have a letter, very likely to have ignored it, but I'll have a dig. Thank you0
