We used Cleerly, and we weren't a straightforward case to place. Olivia who we ended up with was fab (We had a different guy at first who was also fab but unfortunately went on longterm sick). We did have someone in the middle who was far from helpful with our circumstances, so if you go with them, I'd recommend asking for Olivia.0

Personally I would prefer someone local. You are not obliged to use the in house ones recommended by your estate agents. We actually did do that, but the agents were acquaintances of ours and the mortgage advisor was also local, so we knew we could trust them. It is a fairly simple process (unlike buying a house), so the important factors are really how quickly they can make the applications on your behalf without submitting any mistakes. Ours charged £200 which is not really bad when you consider the full some of the mortgage, but I have no other point of reference.I only say go local because a colleague of mine used an online solicitor based 400 miles away for their house purchase (which I know is a different kettle of fish). They made multiple mistakes, including sending a contract to his address with someone else's details inside. TWICE. It took 3 attempts to get the contracts signed, each time with the inevitable delays due to postage, and the time it took the solicitors to respond. Luckily there was no chain but it did delay the move by 3 weeks.0

I'll move this to the mortgage board.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Outside the box in what regard?
Adverse? Complex incomes? Quirky property?....
It might help as most brokers tend to generalise, but there are brokers who specialise in certain areas. We do mostly adverse, @amnblog does a lot of Drs I think, @kingstreet is like an encyclopaedia for mortgages but I think does a lot on new builds - we all have our strong points.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I found a broker through reading lots of posts on here and noticed that one in particular seemed to understand a lot about placing your application with non high street lenders. As we were not a straightforward case I approached @ACG on here and I cannot recommend him and his colleague highly enough. He got us a remortgage when I had very little faith we could get approved.
I think it's ok to recommend someone on here but I'll delete if this is not allowed.1 -

I dont actively come on here to gain customers. When I started out as a broker, I used to read peoples posts and go off and research them - this helped me when real life cases came in as the books are all very simple cases. I mainly come on here to return the help I received and I do also learn from other brokers and from other peoples posts.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I'm sorry if my post has caused a problem, I can remove if needed. I have no affiliation to the broker I mentioned. But if someone asks for recommendations then I thought sharing that I'd highly recommend the person I found would be helpful.
For the record at no stage did they push/tout for my business. I never even put a post up on here, so they would have no idea about me at all! I read lots of posts here over several months, did my research and noticed certain brokers answering lots of questions around similar cases to what I knew mine would be . I contacted them based on their knowledge and manner on here to ask whether I could become a client.0
