Contract
Hi. After advice please. I've accepted a job with a company which opens 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, however my agreed working hours are Monday to Thurs 10 to 5 and Fridays non working days. My question is the contract I've received states... example 28 hours to be completed ... over their full opening times.
When queried they said yes we know you doing the hours agreed and day off but we've put that so if we need you in other times we can spread your hours differently as in start earlier etc..
I'm not entirely happy with this other than verbal agreemwnt followed by a message I dont have it written down properly. I would prefer the contract acknowledges the agreed working pattern as well as the stated can ask me to changr if needed.
Do you think I can request this?

you can ask , but the vast majority of organisations do not put shift times into contracts , merely hours of work as shift patterns can be subject ot change , following consultation, to suit the business needs and if people require specific working patterns then a flexibile working request or reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act locks that in for a period of time after which a review is undertaken, (the review should happen even if it is rubber stamp process )Coffeeaddict22 said:Hi. You can request anything you like, but whether they will agree to change it is another matter. Much depends on how much they want to employ you.Coffeeaddict22 said:Hi. After advice please. Remember that once you've signed the contract, you've lost pretty much all your negotiating clout, since the only trump card (I used the term advisedly...) you'll be left with is resignation.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Doesn't really matter whether the OP signs a piece of paper. If they have been given that piece of paper and begin work, they will be deemed to have accepted the terms.Marcon said:

Whilst an employer has to provide some written information, it doesn't have to be headed "Contract" nor have signatures on the behalf of either party.0 -
Indeed. Plus in most cases there is no useful redress if they don't get round to providing written particulars!General_Grant said:
