Handing in notice period

Been in my current employment for a number of years,I'm considering handing in my notice in the next couple of weeks my contract states under 1 months service notice - nil
Prior to the successful completion of probation one weeks notice.
Thereafter one weeks written notice.
is that all I have to give is one weeks written notice?
As I have done a bit of Googling and somethings I've come across that you have to give 1 weeks notice period for every year you have worked,
just want to clarify if it clearly states in black and white on the contract Thereafter 1 weeks written notice, then that's all I give,as I just want to leave knowing that I'm well within my rights of doing this, with no comebacks,of I didn't give them enough notice ect
Would highly appreciate any comments

If that is what your contract says then that is all the notice you need to give. What you found on Google is nonsense.1

Thank you, that's all I needed just to be sure0

What is stated on an old contract and what is expected might be two different things.
If you are paid weekly then a week might suffice if monthly then a months notice would be normal.0 -

The one week per year (max 12 weeks) is the statutory minimum notice your employer must give you.
1 week is the stat minimum an employee must give.0 -

If you have had any promotion in the time since you signed the original contract, be prepared for the employer to say that accepting the promotion meant you accepted any new contract conditions which went with the promotion. That may mean a longer notice period.I don't know whether that would be enforceable, others may have a better understanding of the legal situation.0
