Voluntary National Insurance Contributions

My wife made a voluntary NI contribution back in April in order to increase her State Pension but apart from an initial acknowledgment that the monies were received she has heard nothing since. She has been in receipt of the State Pension since she turned 66 last year.
Has anyone had experience of how long this should take as it’s been more than 3 months since she made the payment and not had another thing or any increase in her pension. Thanks.

I'm afraid this is real piece of string territory - the backlog is huge, so the unwelcome answer is 'patience'.

Anecdotely as she was already over State Pension Age when she topped up it could take many many months, as the calculations have to be redone manually, and as Marcon says there is a huge backlog. However the good news is that any increase should be backdated to when she made the payment.
