Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's rained during the night, and it's still grey and cloudy. Yesterday it rained for most of the day, it was so dark at about 5pm we had to put lamps on.
I'll pop back later to see what everyone is up to.14 -
Good morning
It's raining, has been for a few hours and is forecast to stay all day. Yesterday we didnt get the predicted thunder, just rain on and off.
My eldest dgd (ds daughter) graduated this week, he put the photos on FB. A lovely girl and well done to her.
Other than cooking a roast dinner and persuading BD to go out, I dont think theres much going o, sloth Sunday.
Have a good day all, take care.13 -
Morning all
Well yesterday just stayed horribly still and muggy with a few drops of rain here and there. Rained for a few hours in the night but doesn’t feel appreciably cooler.Managed to do quite a bit until my trusty mouse sander fell apart - it’s had some serious use so doesn’t owe me anything and I did try to mend it. New one arriving later! Mowed the lawn instead although a good chunk of it is brown so just did the green bits 😂 - nearly four weeks since it was done.Hope everyone has a good Sunday
take care

Good morning 😊
Other than a roast beef / vegan alternative and all the accompaniments later, it’s going to be a very lazy Sunday. It rained for most of yesterday, and still looks wet outside, so it’s the perfect day to binge watch movies on Netflix.
Hope you all have a good day 😊11 -
It's a muggy morning with a promise of brightness - it could go any way. The threatened flood yesterday didn't happen, we only had a few minutes of spotting rain which soon petered out. I hope that no-one was washed away.Apart from taking my return to the local delivery office I did nothing of any note yesterday. A young swallow found itself in my living room so I had to pull out the heavy sofa (bed) to capture it and release it back out the door. This morning I've not opened it yet, am going to wait until the swallows stop their morning feeding swooping. It's a joy to watch them as they fly around searching for breakfast insects.Congratulations to @Remmie's DGD, that's a great achievement. And, well done to @AA for attempting a repair, double well done for ordering a new one!Yesterday I poached some chicken breasts and made enough for at least three lunches. Mixed with sweetcorn and mayo - one of my favourites. I still don't need to shop as there's enough salady stuff for today at least. In an flash Iof optimism I've put a washing machine load on with the hope of getting it dried outside. 🤞🤞I've been out to water the new rose just in case there wasn't any overnight rain - the track and slabs are dry.Final day of ABs, thank goodness as I have trouble getting capsules down. The bite still looks nasty though is much less sore, it's still got a head so I may well do a poultice tomorrow once I've spoken to the pharmacist. A childhood memory is of Kaolin used to draw out skelfs (splinters) and infections though it seems to be mostly used on horses these days. Magnesium sulphate is the modern poultice of choice - we'll see!For now, I hope that everyone is doing well and able to enjoy some more sunshine. Hugs to all.12

Morning all
its been raining during the night it’s stopped for now but more due later, the washing will have to dry indoors today.
I got a call from mum yesterday afternoon to say could I pop up as there was something wrong with her leg I went round and the bottom half of her leg was really red and swollen and really hot to the touch ( we suspected cellulites) , I got her a cuppa and painkillers and then phoned 111 who got a Dr to phone me back within about 1/2 hr the Dr said it sounds like cellulites but could also be a blood clot although that’s very rare and that mum would need to start on antibiotics that day, I told the Dr I happened to have a course at home from when I kept getting infections in my finger tip and she said perfect get her started on them, and had made us an appointment at a treatment centre this morning so I shall take her to that, hopefully it is just cellulites and nothing worse.
I will sort out dinner once I am back we would normally bbq but don’t think the weather will be good enough today, I know there is some mince so might get OH to make a chilli and rice.
Rosy how exciting that you have a new dog friend, he has fallen on his paws with you 😃 what’s his name and what breed ? Enjoy xxx
Have good days all and take care xx14 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS We didn't get the promised thunderstorms yesterday but we did get rain for most of the day. A gloomy day. I think we can expect similar as the day goes on.
Supermarket Sweep this morning with DS and we are hoping it's not as chaotic as last Sunday when we stopped off from the caravan. Half the town seemed to be in!
I made a batch of Shepherd's Pie bases yesterday to put in the freezer, but one left out to top for my lunch today. Just a few veg to prep whilst waiting for DS.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. RUBY I hope your mum soon starts to feel better. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning All
Hope your Mum's ok Ruby, good job you had some ABs in.
A new dog Rosy, how lovely. Hope you have many happy years together, lucky dog.
Pleased to hear your bite is less sore Gers, keep an eye on it.
I was up and out early yesterday for the Allotment open day. Spent 4 hours cooking burgers and sausages and smelled terrible when I got home! We seem to have made over £1000 that will be used to replace some of the equipment that was stolen a few weeks ago. I was absolutely shattered when I got home so had a long hot shower and lazed about watching some catch up TV - was in bed for 9pm!
Must do some shopping today as the fridge is fairly empty although I have lots of fresh veg from the allotment to eat up - courgettes anyone?
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX13 -
Morning all and thanks @Gers for today's start. What a miserable day yesterday was - no thunder or lightening but we had persistent drizzle throughout the day until early evening. Not enough to have an impact on the hosepipe ban but the gardens will have appreciated it! There was some light mist overnight but right now the sun is shining and the sky is blue but, once again, we're told to expect anything from light showers to heavy rain.
Yesterday was semi productive and I made a batch of lemon & sultana drop scones for the cake tin. I also ordered a new bedspread that should be delivered either tomorrow or Tuesday. If I'm happy with it, the one it's replacing can go to the CS - I may or may not need to use the wally trolley.
Beyond the usual daily tasks, there's nothing screaming out to be done today so I'll be having a restful day of sloth. Tea is a pork & apple casserole with stuffing, baby potatoes and veg. I might sample a new TV drama tonight on BBC1 (The Narrow Road to the Deep North).
@remmie - Congratulations to your DGD on her graduation.
@Gers - Glad to hear the bite is less sore, hopefully you won't need to resort to a poultice.
@Ruby - Your poor Mum, cellulitis can be so painful (my DD has had it); I hope the ABs help and that all goes well this morning at her appointment.
@camelot - Well done on the allotment fund raising yesterday. I can imagine you won't want to see another burger or sausage for a good while!
Have a good Sunday, dodge the rain if you're out and about. Take care, help yourself to a virtual hug if needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12
