MSE Credit card eligibility checker -- who gets to see the user's email address?

Is it reasonable to expect that a debt collection agency can gain knowledge of an email address that was created for (and only ever input into) the MSE credit card eligibility checker?

Only MSE can truly answer that but my strong suspicion is that it's all done within the Money Supermarket Group (owners of MSE) and it doesnt go external from the group.
They arent like ClearScore where you can click through to the lender and all your details are pre-completed so clearly are integrated. Thats how MSM started with comparing insurance prices too, they were guesstimating them based on their own analysis whereas the likes of confused.com were integrated and getting live quotes for you.1 -
Many thanks for your insightful reply. Broadly speaking, that is what I would have expected.Nevertheless, I do seem to have been contacted using an email address that I created specifically for the MSE checker service a few months ago, and which has never been issued to anyone else since. It is a debt collection firm which does genuinely (but I believe erroneously) seem to think that I have a small historical debt owing, for some reason. I have received a few sporadic letters about it since over a decade ago, but never before by email. (I have never responded to any of them.)I will consider whether to pursue the email address leakage with MSE.0

i don't think there is anything that would preclude said lender providing this information to the DCA now holding your delinquent account.0 -

It may be better if this thread was moved to the Site Feedback section so it does get the attention and reply from MSE themselves.0 -
I can certainly see, with hindsight, that the more appropriate board for this issue is the 'Site feedback and Forum help' one, so I'll re-raise it there, with a reference to this thread.
