House insurance in NI

For each of the last 2 years, our house insurance has doubled in price despite no claims. I do price around but not really getting anything much cheaper. Just wondering if others are seeing similar increases (just over £500 last year to over £1000 this year) in house insurance prices? Is it something that is happening across Northern Ireland?

It's not something I've experienced. No claims either, mine has remained about the same over the past five years - down slightly from year 1 even, with the same cover.

Ours has doubled as well with no claims, most people's are. It's apparently due to higher labour and materials costs - https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/business/northern-ireland/house-insurance-costs-almost-double-for-ni-homeowners/a949999424.html
We've managed to bring ours down a bit by shopping around and removing accidental damage, which I don't think is something I would ever claim for.1 -
saved quite a bit shopping around. Went with Tesco with NO contents0

My own Home Insurance is due to Renew on 16/09/25, Renewal in from Halifax (Bronze Cover - which does not Include Accidental Cover or Legal Expenses) who were the cheapest last year at £458.00 Renewal this year with Halifax is £583.00, wouldn't mind have never claimed at anytime from my Home Insurance over the past 40years.
Everyone we seem to be talking to, seems to be in the same boat as ourselves, 2 years ago, it went up from just over £200.00 to £458.00, was sick trying around other Insurance Companies, as they were similar or just crazy prices of £1000.00 or more with a few, whom i think were just trying their hand.
Would be Grateful for any advice.0 -
I was with John Lewis for several years, always competitive and price matched if I got cheaper quotes. This year they nearly doubled in price and would not shift. I priced around and got very similar insurance at about £60 more than last year through MBNA.I say very similar because I did remove laptop cover as my laptop is several years old and realistically if anything happened I wouldn’t claim anyway due to the excess and having to declare for 5 years.1
