More out of curiosity!!

I was in a Contracted Out Occupational Pension Scheme so recently paid the maximum top ups to my contributions.
Find that I'm still about £0.66 short of the maximum.
Just a bit odd.

    In what way ?
The sums involved for those of us under transitional rules, with NI contributions both before and after 2016 are complicated with various additions and deductions having been made for things like SERPS, cOPE etc. As you can't now exceed the maximum (ignoring any protected payments) the last year that adds to your state pension could be worth anything from 1p to £6.38

I'm currently £1.02 short of the maximum - I could voluntarily buy another year to take it to the maximum but have decided it;s not worth it. If I was still employed I'd have no choice about paying NI and woudl rech the maximum and continue paying NI until I stopepd worknig or reached SPA regardless.

Thank you. Yes it's all a bit confused. I assume you haven't reached SPA as if you continue working after State Pension Age you don't pay NI.
You're £1.02 shortfall sounds similar to mine.
I filled all the gaps I could and expected to receive the maximum.
Not that a couple of quid is a problem just curious really.

If you are looking after grandchildren under 12, it could get an extra year's NI credit. £34 pa, increasing with the triple lock for 20 or 30 years?
