Wii game reviews

Thought it might be helpful if we gave personal reviews for wii games as review sites don't indicate what kind of person is reviewing and this matters I think. I just typed it all up and then lost it so this may not be as long sorry. We are a family of non-gamers my daughter is 6.
Wario Smooth Moves - 6 year old daughter thinks is the best and rates it as 10/10. Short, silly games that it gives you instructions on many different ways to use the controller for, youngsters don't get frustrated as if they can't do one the next is completely different so they might be able to do it. Can't multiplayer or netshare play. Very silly. Daughter's rating 10/10 mine 9/10
Mario Olympics- can multiplayer can't netshare I don't think, very physical and varied, bit hard for dd but she likes it (gets frustrated). Don't have to complete activities to progress so you can choose what to do from start. Good for friends night at home. Rating 8/10
Mercury meltdown revolution - like a ball going through a maze - you have to reverse all your natural instincts re the control so I find that really hard. DD showed no interest at all. A bit boring. A freidn lent it to us to see if we wanted to buy it from him so obviously didn't like it either. 2/10
Big Brain Academy - a bit like a fun more colourful brain training, too hard for my 6 yr old to do all of it on her own though she can do bits, good for groups of friends or on your own. Rating 7/10
Rayman Rabbids - I liked this despite myself really, it's silly and some of it I find hard and you can't progress without completing sections which is frustrating if you're a bit rubbish like me. 7/10
More to come later.

Also not a fan of sonic/mario at the Olympics. Manouvers are complicated and difficult to master.
WarioWare Smooth Moves gets a big thumbs up here as well! Great fun
Mario Party 8 Great if you have more than 1 controller. Game can get a bit boring but the mini games are great fun. Its a bit like a board game.
Rampage, brilliant fun for smashing thinks up. Kids not as keen lol
Big Brain Academy, great for adults!
Wii Play ok if you are needing the controller it comes with, but doesnt hold attention for too long.
rapala fishing, another one for the adults. Quite relaxing actually, but the kids detest it!0 -
This is a "shop but don't drop" forum for bargains...not game reviews. www.neoseeker.com is a farily definitive collection of reviews for all games and has rarely let me down in stating who a game is for.
I think you'll have much better feedback and discussion in the techie or money savings arms forums.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -

Its actually a very good game but i can understand thw kids wont like it its quite tough0 -
Hi,
I just find that it's helpful to have a review by someone who wants the game for a similar reason - for eg what other parents think of games for certain aged kids or what people who aren't gamers think of the games they've bought.
If it's the wrong place mods feel free to move it - I had a glance around for the best place to put it and thought that here was best as I'm almost "dropped" from trying to find games as they're so expensive I don't want to make wrong decision.
We've also got Trauma Centre on rental - it's a decent enough game that requires a building level of skill, I find that there's way too much irrelevant chat and it's difficult to find out where you've gone wrong in an operation. If you don't have patience don't get this game. It's not rated for kids under 12 though I don't think it's for the gore level cos it's not that realistic to scare (though my daughter said it was too gory for her when she caught me playing it) I would only rate it at 5 or 6 out of 10.

Why didn't you use the Moneysavers Arms ?A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.
A young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent,
the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.0 -
We got Boogie - Compared to the original singstar ( PS2) discs it is awful -thinking of returning it. Neice (9) tried it and didn't take to it either - it is out of sync - songs rubbish and dancing very tricky but boring.
We love Play and Olympics - kids love them and also Mario Galaxy ( they are 6 &9)No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:
Officially Mortgage free 31/07/2017 , 12 years early :j0 -
DH is nuts on the Sports - he is trying for different medals by improving his scores.
We also have SSX Blur (snowboarding - very difficult to do tricks - kids will get bored)
Big Brain Academy - best for 7+ with more than one person for interest
Pirates of the Carribbean - more of a "story line" to it and more adult level to maintain interest
Play - we love this as it is the favourite for children coming to play who don't have a Wii at home - accessible to all and great fun whatever the level!!
Hoping for a Mario one next but everywhere still sold out!!DFW No. 344
Proud to be dealing with my debts!!:T0 -
go to www.metacritic.com
They collect reviews for everything and average the scores out. They also have user reviews. It is a great resource.0 -
We love Mario galaxy, my son 5, got it for xmas and wont come off it. The graphics are really good and the gameplay is brilliant. Also two players can play at once, the second players uses only a remote and aids the first player by collecting stars and killing enemies.
Also he likes mario strikers, great for online play, I (mum) find it really difficult but my son (a whizz on the computer) loves it, so does the other half, (you do need an extra nunchuck for multiplayer though).
Paper mario was also good, but was quite difficult in places, I used a walkthrough in a lot of places. My son did get stuck a lot as he couldn't read the clues. It wasn't as good as paper mario on the gamecube, but still fun, especially swapping from 2d to 3d.
I got my sims for xmas, and I love it!!! Really cute, you have to construct your own village and make furniture. One for the girls though really.
We also have mario and sonic, liked by my son too, very active!
Also we have wario as well, which is fun for the kids as there are lots of different actions involved in using the remote. The same goes for mario party.
We did have sonic but we traded it in straight away, very hard to control.
Monster trucks is also good for the kids, especially if you get the free steering wheel with it. Not much in the way of gameplay though, it doesn't take very long to clock.
We rented out metroid prime which I liked, fun using the remote and nunchuck to move.0 -
Mario Party - like a board game on the big screen with lots of little mini games - I hate it, my daughter (6yr old) loves it. The mini games and challenges are varied enough that some of them are easy enough for her to do and some not. It's quite an interesting idea - my problem with it is that you have to play some of the better games with 4 players even if there's only 1 playing and you watch their turns so the games take such a long time. Good for boys and girls but probably no good for kids who are lots older and are into proper gaming. Good for younger kids. You can play with more than one person for some of the games and can use your miis (which seems very important to my daughter.7/10 for younger kids 3/10 for older kids and 0/10 for adults even for groups of friends.
