Good morning Gers, thanks for starting.
A dull cloudy start, predicted temperature is 24 today, so a bit cooler.
I should have explained more about DH and BDs unexpected swim. DH said the water in the canal only came up to his waist, and a passer by helped them both out. The passer by said he wished he had had his camera to film it, he could have earned a fortune on tic tok.
Thank you for all the good wishes for our anniversary yesterday. We spent a quiet day with phone calls from family and friends. Our dgd phoned with the exciting news that she has started her periods (sorry Derek, tmi). She had a period party to celebrate and Dd and Sil bought her a Pandora ring! Things are certainly different from my day.
I will read back over yesterdays posts, but I hope everyone is keeping well. Have a good day all, take care.13 -
Morning everyone thanks for the start Gers I’m off out to meet up with my friend soon we have a walk a coffee and a catch up it’s dull outside but still muggy we are forcast rain later. Not a lot happening today I need to clean upstairs when I get back and I’m making some sort of dinner tonight with the beef that was left over from yesterday. It was the miners gala at Durham on Saturday it was red hot and a lot of people were there I wouldn’t of liked to have been there in the heat my granddaughter was playing in one of the bands she came home had a shower and laid on the bed she was roasting. But I’ve decided I’m going to have a wander round there next week I’m fed up of been stuck in the house all weekend I feel as if all I do is clean and cook unfortunately it’s like a lot of places now not a lot of shops but the market is on and I will have a wander up to the cathedral and make a day of it . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing14

Good morning 😊
Despite staying up very late last night. I was still awake at five-thirty this morning. Since then, I’ve sorted out the second freezer, and started on a meal plan to see us through the rest of July.
Cooking a roast yesterday was hot work, although it was enjoyed by all, so my efforts were worthwhile. Tonight it will be either chicken sausages, or mushroom sausages, with oven chips and eggs, or beans. Nice and easy.
Apart from that, I don’t think much will be achieved today. I will give the half bathroom a clean - that’s a usual Monday job. I also have some paperwork to go through.
Hope you all have a good day 😊14 -
Morning allA bit cloudy and very breezy this morning. According to weather forecast gusts of 35mph are expected. Groannnnnnnn. Best man won at the tennis although I would have preferred the other one to win! Dipped in and out of the game though as I think after a fortnight it was wearing a bit thin.Meringues came out great. Didn't realise how much it made so some are in the freezer for another day.Off to big shopping centre today to get some inspiration for DS2's birthday at the end of the week. He doesn't know what he wants either!Hope everyone has a good day x14

Morning all
Another lovely day but hopefully not quite as warm, rain and strong winds due tomorrow 🙄 I am going to mums today to work I shall cook her a few meals this morning and then take her out for a ride somewhere, there is a wet fish man on a local beach and I think she might want to go there and get some fish.
Dinner for us tonight will be pork belly strips with rice and peas nice and easy, I have a wash to hang out before work and another to put in, I will also hoover through before I go.
I have a hospital appointment on Wednesday at the breast clinic, it’s the first appointment for five years, I phoned them a few weeks ago to ask if I should have been having regular check ups and if I needed to continue with the tamoxifen as I was told 5 to 10 years originally and the 5 years is nearly up, so I suspect it will be a quick physical check and then a discussion re the meds.
Hope everyone had a good weekend x
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning all. It's bright and sunny here but a bit cooler, thankfully.
We had an easy day at home yesterday, before I went out to an evening pub session. Today we are meeting up with friends for a pub lunch. There was going to be a walk beforehand but people have pulled out for various reasons so now it will just be 6 of us for lunch.
This morning I need to sort through all my coat hangers, as a local charity warehouse has agreed to take all my spares. I've bought a big batch of slimline, matching hangers so am in the process of changing them all over.
Hope everyone is doing ok. Stay cool today10 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. It still feels muggy here but we are forecast thundery showers from mid morning. That should cool it down a bit.
I got back from the caravan yesterday afternoon, stopping off for shopping on the way. The sm was absolutely rammed, reminiscent of the build up to Christmas! Why on earth was everyone shopping in that heat?! I didn't have the best of weeks away with one thing and another. The fall down into the sharp and prickly embankment was the start of it. Then when the heat started to build up the next day it was too hot for comfort in the caravan. It was like living in a greenhouse. But it was too hot to sit outside as well!. Then the tv (Freesat) decided to lose reception and I was deprived of a lot of tennis! Next my phone lost all signal (it's poor reception with EE at the best of times at the caravan) so no wifi either until I got home when I got a deluge of e-mails and WhatsApp texts. So all in all not a good week!
A catch up of jobs to do today, way behind with banking and various admin jobs so they must take priority then, unless we get the rain, I'll need to lug the watering can around all the pots at the back. Thanks Yorkshire Water for the hosepipe ban!!
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. I haven't read back yet so hope nothing untoward has happened for anyone. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Back. I've been rescuing and releasing butterflies, one was even behind the net curtain in the bathroom. How it got there is a mystery as the window wasn't open. They seem to have recovered as they're gone from the window ledge.Yesterday was a glorious day, constant sunshine and blue skies all day until late evening. I sat out for a while in-between getting things ready for my visitors. Even music was set up as the wife of the couple loves George Michael, he was a fab accompaniment to our G&Ts. One of chats was about the huge tree in the garden, the chap took loads of photos and then arranged for his friend (with the correct 'ticket') to cut it back and take some height off it. No date yet but I'm happy that it'll get done as I'm worried about it coming down. One of the disadvantages of being outside on summer evenings is the blooming midges. My legs and feet have so many bites, I've taken an AH tablet to take the itch out of them. I forgot to spray my feet with Smidge and now paying the price.I'm not sure if the garden chap is coming as planned this morning to do the pruning / cutting back of the two thuggish bushes. We had a discussion yesterday about the dire weather forecast of heavy rain and maybe thunderstorms. I'd be happy to have it done later, he's going to make a decision this morning. Thanks @remmie - I figured out that the canal wouldn't be too deep. Your anniversary evening sounds perfect. And yes, growing up now is so different from ours. I would have been mortified to announce such news, it's only a good thing to normalise puberty.A walk along the river Wear would be lovely @Izzy. Hope the pump cleaning doesn't take too long @SO. @Ruby - enjoy your time with your DM.Now I need to put away the garden chairs, or at least fold them up against the wall again, they've been there all winter and survived. I've got a meeting later this afternoon so will sort out the info for it. Apart from the weekly banking that's my day.I hope that all are doing well. Hugs to all.14

Morning all, seems much cooler today and quite dull. The weekend has been spent outside.DGS friendly match kicked off at 12 on Saturday. We took a large sprayer /mister filled with cold water, and DH added some ice cubes, the boys loved it, especially at the end . In the evening we were at DS2s for a bbq, enjoyed by everyone.Yesterday we were in the garden, & I broke up the old hanging basket and put the plants in a tub at the front. watered , then finished my book before more bbq.( The garden centre we visited on Friday on Ds behalf was fab. We bought ready done tubs and hanging baskets, as it would have been not much difference in price, and a lot more work. It's a big place and family run, very helpful too. The one we were going to had a notice up saying they'd sold all their stock and were now shut for a couple of months.)In good news DH got his phone back, the taxi driver had put it in his glove box for safe keeping so he got a reward. He has also now got his new knee op date. The date isn't ideal as it's a week before my 'big' birthday,3 before our 'big' anniversary & other dates but needs must. He's a bit fed up with it but can't be helped.Ruby, glad the new lad and family are decent.Right better get on with some jobs, have a good day all.
