Good morning Gers, thanks for starting us.
Sitting here enjoying the early morning cool air, today is set to be another hot one.
Yesterday morning DH took big dog for a walk along the canal, a walk they've done plenty of times, except this time bd decided to go for a swim (this is the dog that doesn't like rain). Why he did we don't know, but once in he panicked and DH couldn't get him to come out, so jumped in after him. They both got out and came home soaking wet and muddy. Luckily both are safe but what a shock.
Onto today, it's our wedding anniversary, 52 years! Where has the time gone? We're no longer the naive 20 and 18 year olds who thought they knew everything, but I do feel proud and privileged to have got this far. No celebrations planned, but I think we'll be having a drink or two later.
That's all for now, have a good day all, take care.

Morning allReally misty out the this morning. The sun should burn it off eventually.I was rummaging around in the freezer the other day and came across some egg whites that I froze a while ago. I've defrosted them and am going to make meringues for the first time ever today. Hopefully they will be enjoyed this afternoon for dessert!Oh remmie what a fright. Glad they're safe and home. Must have been a shock for all of you. Happy Anniversary to you both too xHad a lovely afternoon at DS's for the birthday boy. Sat out in the garden until at least 9pm until it got too chilly.Looking forward to the men's final today. Might put it on the laptop and sit out in the garden watching even though there is a time lapse of about a minute.Have a good day all x9

Good morning from a very hot and sunny Mehefinland
@remmie Congrats on the long haul! Animals always know how to show you up !
Up at silly o clock as couldn't sleep very well. Turned the guys out by 7am with fly masks on, then Showman decides to have a roll and off it popped. Do you think I could get near him to put it back on -not on your nelly! He will just have to suffer the flies.
I had contemplated going for a paddle late last night but watched the 40th anniversary concert for Live Aid instead. Gosh, it brought back a lot of memories, and didn't they all look so young!!! I saw some pictures on FB of the carnage at Barry Island beach after the lemmings had all been there yesterday- so much litter on the tide line, never mind what must have been lurking in the sand. Glad I have a beach a bit nearer, although it is mostly pebbles. I expect there will be plenty of rubbish washed up over the next few days. Seems to be an abundance of cuttlefish this year too.
Been putting off painting the bungalow , any excuse will do, but I really must make a start soon. Maybe tomorrowJust have no oomph currently.
Hugs and spoons as always. Keep cool if you have the heat, and tough if you haven't lol

Morning again - another glorious start to my day, the second in a row though the forecast for the rest of week is rather dire. For now I'm going to enjoy it.The farmers market yesterday was a huge disappointment, only three stalls, none of which was the lamb butcher. Probably lots are away already. I bought a couple of cheese and leek pies from the bakery, toyed with the Portuguese tarts but they looked rather odd and were £4 each 'eek' so swerved them. I took some food waste to the tip, bought milk and biscuits (for the garden chap coming tomorrow) and spent a pleasant few minutes chatting to the stocksman who was trundling along the grass verges on his ride-on. He's always good for stopping and catching up.Around four'ish I brought out the lawn mower, decided it wasn't the best time to cut the grass so went back indoors. It wasn't until seven that I was able to get the job done, even then I was sweating like a mad thing after just the 15 minutes it takes. The bag of cuttings will be taken away later this morning. This afternoon the chap up the hill and his wife are coming for garden drinks. I've checked the freezer for ice (tick), checked the larder for lemons (tick) and for crisps (tick).😱😱@remmie's OH- for goodness sake, I wonder what possessed the dog! Poor hubby, how did he get himself and the dog out? And Happy Anniversary to you both. 🥳🍷I hope that everyone is doing well in the lovely weather. Take care all, hugs all round.8

Gers I know what you mean about the farmers market when we went last week the prices were eye watering and the Portuguese tarts in Lidl are delicious and about 60 pence . Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers. So sorry to hear the farmers' market wasn't what you were expecting but well done on eventually getting the grass cut. You can admire it while having garden drinks this afternoon!
Another uncomfortable, airless night and, although I slept reasonably well, I'm feeling drained by the heat. Not helped by an early morning symphony from the wood pigeons. Today we're down to a more reasonable 27 deg, sunny, maybe some cloud later in the day. Just waiting for DS to arrive before we head off to his for a BBQ this afternoon so no cooking for me today.
@remmie - Happy anniversary to you both, you deserve long service medals. Hopefully DH and BD have recovered from yesterday's aquatic episode!
@mehefin - Sorry to hear your oomph has done a runner - the bungalow will have to wait until it returns!
Must dash, I hope everyone enjoys what's left of the weekend - it looks as if the weather will break soon so make the best of it while it's here. Take care, hugs if needed. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Morning All
Happy Anniversary Remmie, BD was probably taken over by the heat, I know I was on Friday when I went in friends pool.
Derek like you we need to do some decorating but not in this heat.
Gers enjoy your day, well done on the mowing , our poor lawn has so many bare patches but not a lot we can do.
Yorklass enjoy your BBQ at DS's
We have DD and DGC coming today, they are going in friends pool and a BBQ later.
Yesterday went to my parents grave to lay flowers as Monday would have been Ddads birthday.
Keep hydrated, stay safe hugs to all who want them.

Morning all
Hot here already and a restless night due to the heat 🥵 mustn’t grumble though.
I have stripped the beds this morning and got the bedding on a hot wash it’s nearly done so will hang it out once it’s finished. I spent some time in the garden yesterday afternoon so will do a little bit more today just pottering and dead heading although I did cut the wisteria back which has had a growth spurt and was growing all over the windows.BBQ for dinner tonight we have some minty lamb steaks and some burgers, I made an alternative potato salad yesterday with lemon mayonnaise and capers it was delicious and some left for today, we will do some peppers on the bbq too.
Remmie I’m glad everyone was ok, I bet big dog was hot and wanted to cool off bless him, it did make me chuckle though them both coming home dripping 😂 Happy Anniversary to you both xx
Have good days all and take care xx7 -
Good morning 😊
I am very tired due to an inconsiderate neighbour on the next street having a party with music blaring loud enough to make our walls vibrate. We had to shut all the windows, despite how hot it was. I fell asleep around two o’clock, and they were still going. I didn’t want to get up, but have lots to do.
It has been a busy day thus far. We have family coming for dinner later, so I have been in the kitchen for most of it. I had a food delivery earlier, so wanted to do a stock take of the main freezer (and especially before it got too hot). Then, I sorted the fridge, so I could use up anything vegetable wise, that was on its last legs. There was one courgette, which I turned into a vegan courgette gratin. A butternut squash has been turned into mash. I also chopped up the last of the broccoli, and will steam that later. Then, the cauliflower is chopped, ready for both a cheese (cheese block taken out of the freezer), and a vegan cauliflower cheese. There were some salad bits, so they’ve been diced, and tossed together in a salad bowl.
On to the Sunday roast. I’m doing roast chicken and a vegan alternative, both roast and mashed potatoes (they’re all peeled, ready to go), the vegetable accompaniments, stuffing, and yorkshire puddings, which I’ve prepared the mixture for, and just leaving it to chill in the fridge until later.
Vegan yorkshire puddings are a bug bear of mine. They don’t rise like egg based yorkshires, and although they taste nice, there’s no dip in them. One day, I will make perfect vegan ones, but as it is, I have to make regular yorkshires for everyone else, and either not bother with any myself, or put up with the way the vegan ones turn out 🤣 Since I fancy them for dinner, I will see how it goes 😊
Chores have also been kitchen based, and the washing machine has had good usage today. Once I’ve finished in here, I want to tidy up in the bedroom, as there are a few things lying around. It’s mostly pick up and put away, so nothing too strenuous.
Football is on later, so we will watch that. Plus, the wrestling is on, but that’s not until after midnight.
Enjoy your wedding anniversary, @remmie Fifty-two years is amazing. Hope neither the doggo, or your husband, had too much of a scare at the canal.
Hope you all enjoy your day 😊6
