My wife did not claim child support for our 2 children and subsequently did not get the Ni credits. Is there any wsy those can be claimed for her now?

Not for past years. But if she can claim Child Benefit now she would get NI credits going forward.0

Why did she not claim ?
If it is because you were earnng over the high income threshold, I beleive HMRC are currently putting a system in pace that will allow backdated claims (for credits only) in these circumstances, but I don't think it's up and running yet.0 -
If she did not claim because of higher income
The government has confirmed that it will introduce secondary legislation to allow parents and carers who would have qualified for child benefit, but did not claim to claim a national insurance credit. This will be possible from April 2026. Initially there will be transitional arrangements so that claims can be backdated to the start of HICBC in 2013. In future, it will only be possible to make an application for six years following the end of the relevant tax year.
