I think you're living in a fantasy land if you believe that.. Have you really not been paying attention to any of the huge amount of new coverage on the topic?p_anotherguy said:
This is my experience as well. Personally, I don't want to talk to an AI agent, but to a human. So I was wondering whether this whole AI stuff is more of a hype than anything. What do you think?prowla said:ButterCheese said:AI customer service is just following a model that has been in place for years, i.e. reading off a script and providing a centralised, inferior service. All that happens now is that AI picks out the words you speak, looks them up against a list of FAQs and returns a pre-associated response. So it makes perfect sense (for the provider, but not the customer) to replace a minimum wage employee with AI in this case. For some routine operations, robotic systems are used but I'd query if this was actual AI rather than just automated proceedures based on visual cues (much like driverless cars). It is much more time consuming to teach it to learn, because every person's intestines might look different. Plus you might need additional people like urologists, hepatologists, general surgeons present to make a decision if something is not straight forward.
"Hi, I'm your AI assistant, please enter your question"> Talk to a person"I'll be glad to help you, please enter your question"> Talk to a person"I see you want to talk to a person, is that right?"> Talk to a personGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
One thing is the news they tell us, the other thing is reality...for now, I haven't seen an AI agent being truly helpful. This doesn't mean that they won't improve in the future. For now, however, they can't replace humans.Marcon said:

Or I mean, they can, but the quality of the service is much worse.0 -
Just got £75 from an insurance co as a go away bribe after an obvious AI CS interaction dealt with my initial enquiry / problem as it obviously didn't understand a simple 2 line query and kept asking for more information leading to an AI circle.1

Fashion models
Digitally created models by Serraphinne ValloraSurely a green option compared to hauling stroppy models around he world ?1 -
I had a similar experience, that's why I don't trust customer service AI agents (for now).molerat said:Just got £75 from an insurance co as a go away bribe after an obvious AI CS interaction dealt with my initial enquiry / problem as it obviously didn't understand a simple 2 line query and kept asking for more information leading to an AI circle.0 -
I think that AI isn’t just about replacing jobs, it’s changing how we work. Sure, routine stuff like data entry and basic support will get automated, but it’ll also shake up jobs we don’t usually think about because it changes the way problems get solved. In the long run, AI will force us to rethink what skills really matter and will lead to new types of jobs we haven’t even thought of yet.2
