Non-Fault Claim

Options
Hi
My insurance legal team asked me to sign a liability contract after they had already arranged a car hire on a non-fault claim. They also requested bank statements to assess affordability, in case I had to cover the cost of £3K if the at-fault party failed to pay. Is this normal to sign the contract afterwards? Is it normal to sign contract only at the end of hire period? Had I been informed about this liability beforehand, I might have declined the car hire altogether. What are my rights if I choose not to sign, given that I was not informed. Why am I being asked to sign in the first place if this is a non-fault claim?
Your input would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Most people just sign what they think is the handover document for the car without reading it properly and when they do finally read it they find out it's a credit hire agreement and not just a handover form. Have you read what you've signed to date? It'd be unusual to say the least to only sign for the car on credit after already having had the car... you will need to check what you have signed to date if you are minded to refuse.

It's not uncommon for them to ask for bank statements but that is normally only after they find out there is a dispute on the credit hire charge not in advance of that.

LE cover assists you in attempting to get your uninsured losses back, it doesn't actually cover your uninsured losses. Whilst in most cases credit hire companies get their money back someone needs to be footing the bill for those cases where the hire car is given and afterwards it turns out it was a cloned reg and bogus details given etc.
