I don’t, no - I’ve checked my credit report with three providers and there’s absolutely nothing on there.

In which case you can be reasonably confident that these texts are simply "phishing" and you can safely ignore them.

Thank you! I know Credit Style deal with a lot of defunct energy providers, and my worry was that it was something odd like me being named on a bill for a shared house when I was a student, and someone having had incurred a debt after I left (though this would be c.7 years ago now). But I assume something like that would show up on a credit report?

The other option would be that they seem to deal with a lot of private parking providers - again, not I’m aware of a fine, but I’ve only had a car while living in this house, so assume I would get a letter if they wanted to pursue, and thus be in a position to contest.

Over-thinking. And that's what they hope for.

This is a bottom end collector going about their bottom end business.

They are not debt purchasers so would not be able to start a court claim.

Thank you, I am quite good at overthinking. Really appreciate all the reassurance.

Apologies, one hopefully final question - if someone did want to issue a Letter Before Claim for a CCJ, presumably they’d be required to take reasonable steps to ensure it was going to the right address (e.g., checking electoral roll, credit agencies) - so hopefully the chances of it going astray are pretty minimal if my details on these are up to date?

I do appreciate I’m being a bit anxious about this! I’ve always made sure I stayed on top of payments, so it’s a bit unsettling to suddenly get a stream of texts from debt collectors.

Anything court related would come via post, not a text.

Yes but this assumes they are using up to date information rather than info received from the original creditor from a few years back.

Yes, this is my concern. I’m less worried about something I have chance to defend, as I’m fairly confident I have everything in order - I’m more worried action will be taken without my knowing because they’re using an old address.

I’d hope they’re required to check - the electoral roll or my credit file would provide the correct details.
