Huge reduction (Amazon Prime) day after I bought items

Options
Would you suck it up or what would you do?

My husband bought an exercise machine and it's dropped in price today and I bought a fitbit from another supplier that is hugely cheaper today on Amazon.

Talking about > £50

Could send back and reorder/refuse delivery and reorder.  Would you?

Sorry not sure what thread I should set this up in... very complicated since I last signed into the forums!

You can accept delivery and then return immediately - for smaller items they just send you a code and you can take it to your nearest affiliate Amazon return place (ours is the local post office); you don't even need a box.  I'm not sure how this will work for a large item like an exercise machine though.  They would possibly arrange collection, or give you a prinatable free return label and make you take it to the appropriate returns point.

You could also select the reason for return as "found cheaper elsewhere" - but again I'm not sure if they do anything about that as I've never done it myself.  Common sense would suggest that they'd ask for the link (in which case you give the Amazon Prime Day link) and they refund you the difference, rather than them transporting it back and giving you a refund.

The other option would be to contact them and ask them to honour the new prime deal price - I've heard this has worked for others in the past.

Just to add, as long as it's within 10 days (I think it's 10 or 14) they usually refund without question.  Once the return is complete and you have your refund, you can buy the discounted item

Won't work if they are only reduced during Prime Days, 8-11 July.

As long as you are in the return window and you bought it from the same seller as the now discounted ones then normally their Chat staff will just discount them to avoid messing about with returns.

If you bought from a Third Party and the discounted ones are being sold by Amazon themselves then you may have to buy again and return the third party ones... it would certainly be safer to do that refuse delivery as tracking of refused items is fairly often a bit ropey in my experience.

Thanks all.  I refused delivery of the fitbit from the other supplier so that will be refunded and I can buy it on the reduced Prime sale saving £40

The walking pad exercise thing has reduced in price but now has postage on it making it the same price.  Might have been able to select a better model for the same price but settled on the original one because it'll do the job and had great reviews.

Only saying about the reduction and addition of the postage to share the info - pesky not so Prime deal when they do that!
