Not HOKA, but ASICS can often be found discounted, as when they release a new model, the previous version of that model gets a good discount off the RRP. Runners I know who like ASICS often keep an eye on this and buy their next pair from the sale

Thanks, that's what I'm trying to do. So far I haven't found anything of the size/model I need (and like). But as many of you suggest I'll stick to safe retailers and brand shops and websites. Better hurry, sales are not gonna last forever! Thanks everybody!

You can sort by brand and sport on the Sportshoes.com site, if you're looking for 'everyday' shoes instead of  running shoes, maybe search under Gym or Outdoors. Shoes are built differently for each sport, so there might be a cheaper around shoe in a different category.

Over a couple of years I had appointments at my local NHS podiatry.
All the consultants and other staff wore HOKA.

Rather telling, I thought.

Assuming they were not all purchased with a fantastic NHS staff discount.

HOKA are good shoes so I am not knocking them.

Once outside of really budget shoes I suspect, at least, if not more, important than the brand is the correct shoe from the manufacturer range.  You don't want a pair of hiking boots / trainers to run a marathon or a pair of track spikes to work in a hospital department all day.

What size and brand/model are you looking for?

I'd go for ASICS every time.

One word of caution (and I speak as someone who has spent a lot of money on podiatrists and running shoes) if you aren't using them for running and they have been suggested to you as an "everyday" shoe for walking etc, then I wouldn't go for a very cushioned running shoe as they might be too unstable with a walking gait - unless your podiatrist has told you that you really need a lot of cushioning.  (For my everyday walkinig shoes I wear Salomon trail shoes.  You might want to try an outdoors shop like GO or Cotswold.)

One other thing - unless I knew exactly what make, model and size I wanted, I'd be reluctant to buy online and would want to buy in a proper shop.

(Having said that I buy my running shoes from Start Fitness - Running, Cycling & Sportswear Supplier   Good for ASICS but they don't sell HOKA or Nike)
