    I remember Hambros/Allied Dunbar recruiting reps from a wide selection of industries in the late 80s so they could then milk the colleagues they knew from their previous employment.

    AD then became Zurich and now known as St James Place. Or maybe they really were different companies all headed by Mark Weinberg?

    I'd never heard of him so looked him up, seems he was knighted by the queen and was deputy chairman of the main regulatory body in the late 80's as well as a serial business starter as per above companies.
