I suspect that in the end, retirement will get delayed, so he can do OMY, just in case…..DT2001 said:We have less than you and are planning on spending more however I am convinced we have enough to gift capital or initially excess income.
I am 5 years older than you and am aiming to move once more but by self building. It maybe stressful at times but if it’s what you want I think it’s worth it.Enjoy your retirement and new home.0 -
I’d be cautious with those numbers. Perhaps stick out a couple more years at work to ensure success.0

You don’t mention what your wife sees as special about this house, but as she’s still working (I think?) there’s a risk she’ll feel differently about it when she’s retired. I mean in terms of how she wants to spend her time, and the ways that she will use a house. That’s my experience anyway, though it’s only been three months since I jumped off the roundabout!SouthCoastBoy said:Thks for the replies, always good to get different perspectives.
I think my wife is set on the house, I have listed pros and cons, but she is very keen me not so bothered, our current house is fine.Fashion on the Ration

We've been round the house 3 times now, and just did a walk around the village and associated woods this afternoon. She is very keen, likes being in the country, she was bought up in that environment and misses it.Sarahspangles said:
