Hiya, do I have to give my husband's financial info to Lowell? It's for a debt that defaulted in 2020, solely in my name, husband is not happy with them asking for his information when the debt is only in my name. He works, I am a carer for our autistic son and don't work, also with my own disabilities, so my personal income is only UC and carers. Thank you
Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

You are not forced to give them any information.
If it defaulted in 2020 it will disappear next year ( unless you live in Scotland ) When did you last pay it?If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
You simply tell Lowell your Husband is not happy giving them that information as it is against the general data protection regulations (GDPR).

Are you making payments to this debt, was it originally a loan, credit card or what?0

Thank youIt is a mistake to engage with Lowell and it could be deemed as acknowledging the debt and resetting the 6 year Statute Bar period. They came after me for a Statute Barred debt and I found them to be a truly awful company, Debt Camel has a page on them after they bought Hoist.Personally in your position I would ignore all, if they go for a CCJ then with your own low income you might consider a Debt Relief Order (DRO) which will wipe all your debts up to £50k after a year. It requires you have no assets and other limitationsOtherwise even a CCJ can be ignored and if they try to do an attachment of earnings you can show the Court that any disability income is provided to support your disability not to pay Creditor. You could offer them £1 a month for 6 years via the Court. I have found that my DO NOT ENGAGE policy gets the best results, only one creditor of under £5k sought a CCJ. My attitude was SO WHAT, having a CCJ does not increase my affordability.Debt Collectors try to get you do contact them, some add fake charges, some threaten to take your kid's TV (HCEO's) some threaten your car or ask for something they are not entitled to. I remember the HCEO's coming after me for a non-consumer debt and listing the debt at 3x the value to make me call them to dispute it. I was not born yesterday, nor did I come down with the last shower. In my experience if you contact a debt collector it is a sign of weakness, it makes them think you are low hanging fruit, only despicable people can think up these tactics. What I think every alleged debtor should be told is that the money lend to them never existed, it was invented on the computer of the original lender. They did not earn it or inherit it, they just invented it for the right to charge you interest. That is the system, but ALSO they sell the debt for pennies in the pound when they default the debt and terminate the agreement. So a £10,000 debt may be sold for £300 but the Debt Consolidator who buys the debt for £300 has the right to ask for the full £10,000. Now they can ask and any collection activity is called enforcement, but they do not have any rights to enter your home, nor take your goods. These people live off the misery of others, which is why when I see companies like Intrum in administration I hang out the flags.Even if you have contacted them I would stop now, do not take their calls, do not respond to their letters, let them go to Court if they really want to, I like it when they go to Court because it has cost them and they still get no money from me. I paid my due in interest to the companies that lent me money, that was enough. We have no relationship with the scum sucking debt consolidators, nor with the Debt Managers they appoint, nor with the debt collectors the Debt Managers appoint themselves.I hope this video cheers you up!0
