No Notice Period

So brief explanation, I started a minimum wage job in a food factory with 6 months probation and hated every minute of my first day. So I quit effective immediately after my shift with a resignation letter explaining it wasn’t a good fit and I wished them all the best. Handed over my stuff the next day and then realised did I have to work notice?

I checked my contract and it said one week. Obviously it is too late now but what are the repercussions of this? Am I likely to be sued after? Or am I over thinking things.

Minimum wage job, they are not going to sue you.  Might not be happy with you.  Might say something odd in any reference letter you might ask for but then I doubt you'll be using them as a reference.

Basically you have probably done them a favour by realising it wasn't the right job for you.

You are highly unlikely to be sued, would cost them more than the 1 weeks cost of getting agency staff to replace you or paying overtime to cover your shifts.

What could be the problem is any future reference, certainly with at least one previous employer they would have marked your leaving as being dismissed for gross misconduct for having not turned up to your shifts during your notice period.

They might actually be pleased that you we honest immediately and they didn't have to waste money on training.

Thanks for the advice. I probably won’t use them as a reference or put it on my CV as it was such a short amount of time and no skills were learned.
