Tax on interest earned - spouses treated separately?

We are in the process of selling our house and plan, at least in the short term until we know exactly what future plans are, to put the proceeds into a high interest savings account. The question I have is that if we put it into an account solely in my wife's name will the interest earned only count towards her annual tax allowance? (please don't reply about how we should be using more tax efficient savings vehicles etc etc, I'm aware of that, but as I say this is just for the short term).
