This relates to my existing HSBC Credit Card that went in default Sept 2022.

Mar 2024 During a review I informed HSBC I would stop paying £50 pcm towards a previously agreed plan. My circumstances had changed and I could no longer afford the previously agreed payment.  (payment was goinmg towards increased rent)

March 2025 contacted by Moorcroft Debt Recovery on behalf of HSBC. Told them I was unable to agree an affordable payment plan because, if anything my financial situation was worse.

May 2025 Received a letter from Moorcroft informing me they had returned my account to HSBC.

Today. Just noticed on Clearscore the following update: "A new HSBC account has been added to your 19 June 2025 report".

I now have two HSBC accounts with the same Ac# in clearscores 'Closed Accounts' section.

Wondering what it means - Start of court action?

It may just be a timing difference on when different systems are updating the credit agencies.

Realistically I think that no court action would be started for some time, if ever.  HSBC is likely to make contact again to ask about a payment plan.  With that in mind you might think about your budget overall and why making payments is difficult to impossible.  Do you have other debts as well??  Or is it simply that money is tight?  Either way completing a statement of accounts (SOA) and posting it on the Debtfree Wannabe board might get you some info on how to make your income stretch a bit further.

I'm also going to move this post over to that board so you can get a bit more visibility with some of the debt boffins.

It is unlikely that HSBC will immediately consider going to court because Moorcroft says you have to stop making payments because your rent has gone up.
This sounds more like a credit record mix up. You could send HSBC a complaint or wait a month and see if it gets sorted out.
