Or get a standard LED 4k and spend the savings on an AV receiver and some good speakers!  As long as you've got an HD source, you only notice when they;re side by side.  I agree there is no comparison with OLED for picture quality, but once you get used to it, is it really worth a grand more?

    Which size model?

If it's the same price everywhere then RicherSounds is probably a better option to at least get a free 5 year warranty from them. Most the 2024 models are also coming with a free soundbar other than the entry level Bs, even if you dont want it you can resell it to recoup part of the price.

If you go in store then they may haggle a little, more likely is to throw in an extra or two.

Typically TV prices will be fairly stable until October time when they start going down again in anticipation of CES in early January when the 2026 models will be announced.

It is going to be subjective, but I would say absolutely yes. I have an OLED TV, OLED monitor and OLED laptop, there is no way I want to go back to the washed out blacks, loss of contrast, lower response time, image persistence etc. of a non-OLED screen. For me it is not just a side by side, it is obvious from even a cursory glance at the screen and even the best LED displays, even with local dimming etc. do not come close to an average OLED, let alone a higher end model.

A few people might not be able to tell the difference, some might not care and many others will think it is not worth the additional cost, but to me the difference between the two is night and day and worth every penny.

On the OP's original subject, I do not see that AO would haggle, it is not their business model, neither would I expect John Lewis or Amazon to haggle.

richer sound has the same model (oled65g46ls) for £100 more but comes with a free sound bar
LG are offering a 5 year warranty
i cant be having a soundbar as neighbours will kick off the walls are paper thin so maybe a good set of headphones
i cant justify paying out £1500

Why are you trying to buy it from AO when other companies are selling it cheaper?

If you cannot justify paying out £1,500 what can you justify spending? The cheapest I can see it for is £1,449, so not a huge saving either way.

But the soundbar (US90TY) routinely sells on eBay for over £300 even taking the fees off for selling it it leaves you better off.

You could also step down from the G to the C and save £300 but it comes with a cheaper soundbar so net price won't be as discounted were you to sell it.
