Googling shows that Airtours rebranded to MyTravel and Going Places was owned by MyTravel group so that's got me a little further down the line0

This is what I found online. Does this mean the pension would have moved to Thomas Cook as well?
Airtours rebranded to MyTravel, and later merged with Thomas Cook. The Airtours brand was phased out, with "MyTravel" becoming the new name for their travel agencies and website. Eventually, MyTravel Group merged with Thomas Cook AG, and MyTravel Airways was integrated into Thomas Cook Airlines.0 -
Have you contacted the administrators? Sedgwick Noble was bought out by Mercer1

I haven't tried Mercer so will give them a call.0

Ah...that could be significant. Even if her employment transferred under TUPE, occupational pensions wouldn't have been covered, so it's possible her pension with Airtours started 'from scratch' in 1993 (and looking at the modest amount showing on the benefit statement, that seems plausible - especially if the travel agency taken over by Airtours didn't have a pension scheme - there was no requirement to do so at the time).captainbarnacles said:She says she thinks started there in about 1988 but it was another travel agency name then. Airtours acquired that travel agents in 1993 and she left around 1994 when it had changed its name to Going Places.
With under two years of pension scheme membership in an occupational scheme, she would only have been entitled to a refund of her own contributions, minus tax, when she left. Payment would have been automatic and probably rolled into her final pay, which could have made it easy to overlook.
I suspect the unhappy answer is that there's no pension to find, which isn't what you and your mum hoped to hear.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Ah okay. That makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to look at this though.0
