18 digit reference number

Hello all, still waiting to get my call back to get my 18 digit reference number to pay my missing years. Been through all the steps, phone calls, written reply last December giving phone number to call for the ref number (called several times, put on hold for an hour and cut off) etc. Found the link to request a call back on MSE, sent request well before April 5 deadline, got a call back within a couple of weeks but was just to tell me that I needed to wait for an advisor... I already have the advice!  That was at Easter and still waiting.  I just want the blinking number.  Anyone got any ideas?

Call, call and call again.  Try doing so at 8 am when the lines might not be so jammed there's a queue.

It all depends precisely what letter you have.  If an "options" letter then you can just call HMRC and pay according to whichever option you choose.  If simply a list with prices and no outcome you need to either wait for a call or try spot on 8am
  • I found the chat service very efficient. Much quicker than a phone call too.
