Pressing 'save' on self assessment online form - can I edit later?

I'm doing my first ever self-assessment form, which I've completed but I'm not feeling confident to submit it yet. If I press the save button, will I be able to edit it later if I find I've made any mistakes? Quick answers will be much appreciated! I'm finding this whole thing scary!

Yes.  Just don't forget it still needs submitting at some point between now and 30 December or 31 January!!

Thank you so much! I was scared to press the button, but didn't want to lose my answers! I'll submit soonish though. Don't want this hanging over me.

Yes, no problem in having another go if you're within the deadline, my 2017-18 return was version 3.

Personally, and from long experience, I wouldn’t be amending the return too many times AFTER submission.

There’s nothing like drawing attention to yourself.

I had a client who made a habit of submitting any old rubbish to beat the deadline, knowing he had another year to amend it. HMRC got wise (although wouldn’t admit it) and initiated a full enquiry, not an aspect one!

Thanks for your help everyone. It took a while to find all the info that I needed, but I managed it and have the draft saved. Now it's just a case of deciding when to submit and pay. It turns out that I owe much more than I hoped. But better to know now than get a letter out of the blue in six months, I suppose.
Thanks for giving me the confidence to give it a go!
