Comping Mags

Options
I love this site and on here daily but just wondering does anyone buy any comping magazines?
I have heard about compers news which costs £4.95 a month, does anyone subscribe to that?  or any other comping/prize magazines?

Back in the day, there used to be a couple of the type of magazines you are talking about:  "Competitors Companion" and "Prize Draw Winner".  Those were the days when you entered comps using a postcard or envelope; and although the internet was around, it was not as advanced as it is now, so the magazines were the only way you could really find out about competitions.  The benefit was that prizes were a lot easier to win, as only dedicated compers would enter comps in this way for long periods of time.

Nowdays, there is no trace of PDW, and CC seems like it has gone online.  So it it looks like the mag you referred to - "Compers News"- is the only magazine around.  It's a shame, but the internet has overridden everything else.  And that is also why it is so much harder to win anything now, as everyone & their Mother enter comps when it is as easy as filling in a few details online!

@Joolski I started my competition journey doing postcard entries in the local to me newspapers back in the eighties when the price of a stamp was acceptable, how times have changed, I will always enjoy comping but I really think I am going to change tactic and stop trying to enter ever comp out there as like you say they are harder to win as everyone is just filling in a few details online, I think I will be more selective and also try some purchase necessary ones.

I subscribe to Compers news magazine and highly recommend it.
    Give it a try.
You also get access to Chatterbox and a digital copy of the magazine.

Yes - back in the days when stamps weren't extortionate prices.  Just as well the internet came along, as I couldn't afford to post competition entries nowdays!  I used to enjoy receiving those competition magazines though.

    Good luck with your comping.

@The_3rd_Zebu spot on there, that's exactly what it is.
I must admit I started going down that road but was doing my head in, yes I like comping and will always do a few, but going to be a bit more selective, do few creative, or purchase necessary, not going to spend hours and hours sat using laptop, more to life, yes you can win some amazing things (well not me as yet), I do the postcode lottery so think I have more chance of winning on there, as had 5 small wins last year, they say whatever is meant to be for you will find you.

Have you registered online with the PPL? - there are a couple of competitions on there you can enter every day for entries into a weekly prize draw.
