@Elisheba I thought of you this morning when I took the car out in the snow 😂 got up,  and back down, or drive with no skidding or sliding, as you can see.  Not massive drifts, but it was scraping the underside of the car.

I feel like I'm doing an all weather tyres sales pitch 😂 but this seemed as good an opportunity as any for showing you what I meant 😂
That's brilliant, Cheery! I am very impressed. Definitely worth it I think!

With regard to the broken vacuum head that is taped together.....have you looked on the Bay of E or any local FB selling pages. You often see people selling or even giving away for free, just the random parts of different vacs.  Worth a look.

It is nice to have a cosy weekend at home when the weather is bad. I will think about the all weather tyres next time mine need changing. I have 4 wheel drive but it isn’t an SUV. I mostly avoid driving in icy conditions now that I am retired but it can be restrictive as our roads are never gritted.
I enjoyed reading Lilian Beckwith and still have “A Rope in Case” although I am more likely to have a bit of baler twine about me somewhere! I long dreamed of having a croft in the Hebrides so I think that was part of the attraction of her books for me.

Abe books or similar might be worth looking at for the books that are out of print. With Abe you can get a little cashback through TCB.

I may be wrong but I think it may be possible to convert a pushbike into an e-bike?

You can get kits KK, but I think the fire risk is substantially higher - they are excluded from somewhere (I can’t remember where) for this reason. I don’t know why or whether it’s simply that there are a lot of dodgy conversion kits out there 🤷🏼‍♀️

You might be able to part exchange your bike for an e-bike. Probably better to do that when you move then if there are any problems you’re closer to them.
