Switch before DMP

  • Thanks for that. I will definatley do it manually. Worth taking the time before than having all the hassle after.

Absolutely 💯 not, unless you want to spend your life on the phone to your new bank trying to get the ‘cancelled before switch’ direct debits that have been set up again on a loop by your creditor/s that you thought would never see light of day in your new bank because you wiped them off the list first. I had to get my new bank to block my old bank from setting up new DD’s every time I cancelled them. And the stress of seeing the DD in pending and whether it would disappear or £000’s come out of my bank, which I didn’t have. It drove me nuts.  I wish I’d taken the advice to manually switch!
    Thanks Scarlet

I tried to find your thread to explain, although I do use your case to warn people.

Hope you've got it sorted now?
All banking is sorted, I love Monzo with a passion!  Defaults starting to roll in and currently googling Advantis Credit for a Sainsbury’s bank loan as I’ve just received an email and keep getting unknown mobile phone calls.

Just waiting on letters now the defaults are registered on who to pay, although four of my NW accounts are with the Financial Ombudsman so I’m ignoring Moorcroft still and hoping that’s the right thing to do!

All I know is I follow the advice now from all you experts here to the letter instead of thinking I know best and it will all be fine if I do it my own merry way for ‘ease’! 😅
  • I've opened a Monzo account, so I'm glad you've mentioned that, think I'll stick to this rather than Barclays. 😊

I think it’s brilliant. With the pots for budgeting. And I can get the money being paid in earlier by ‘tapping the wallet’, it’s excellent!
