Good morning Scarlet, thanks for starting.
It looks dull and cloudy out, yesterday's forecast of thunderstorms didn't happen. The forecast for this week is hot hot and hotter.
I have to renew my driving licence, my 10 years is almost up. Its going to cost me £14 and then I have to renew it again in December when I reach that certain age. That's worked out well for DVLA, but not for me.
Not much planned for today, its Fathers day, so I'll see if DH has any plans. Happy Fathers day to all the dads out there, and to mine up in heaven.
Have a good day all, take care.12 -
Morning allWoke at 5 and couldn't get back to sleep. It's going to be a looong day! I'm not the only one on here so hugs to all who are early risers tooStill breezy out there but sun is shining.Nothing going on today. DS1 came round yesterday to give DH his Father's Day pressie and DS2 will be round today as he attaches his shopping to my delivery shop. Over the months it's turned round that his is the main shop and I add bits that I want to it!Apart from that a bit more gardening. Perfect day for hanging washing out and I forgot to put a towel wash on last night. Oh well it'll go on overnight and I'll hang it out tomorrow instead.Have a good day to you all x13

Morning all; bright and sunny here so far.
Thanks for all the commiserations re the EGM. I shall try to put it behind me and move on.
This is DSiL's last week in the UK so today we are taking her for a pub Sunday lunch and then up to York for a few days, via Harrogate. We'll include a day in Whitby whilst there and probably tire her out showing her all our favourite places!
It was lovely to see DS yesterday and reminisce about the wedding. He even brought some spare wine with him; apparently they have at least 2 cases left over at home
Hope everyone has an enjoyable day - I'm off to start packing.14 -
Morning all - thanks for starting us off @Scarlet, hope you had some good sleep.@Remmie - the age renewal of your driving licence is free!@Chrisca - its the way of life.@WL - what a shame about the disruptive newcomer, Ive experience that type of person too and just left the organisation. Anyway, have a fab time with your DSiL and enjoy that lovely part of the UK. Spare wine is always a joy.My long drive yesterday was fine, the weather was very mizzly and muggy so no wonderful views but still lovely. Hair cut and colour was good. Last time I decided against foils as I got really really bored so it's now the paste being applied straight onto the hair. Still not a fast process but bearable. And I think that between us, the hairdresser and I have hit on the optimum amount of hair to cut each time so I'm much happier. When I was back home I watched the Trooping and enjoyed the splendour of the marching - suddenly I could 'see' my beloved Dad doing the slow march in our house as showed us his never forgotten skills. I was meant to attend a birthday gathering later (a 100th - 70 year old father and 30 year old son) but really didn't feel up to it. Such a shame as I was looking forward to the hog roast. I will drop in a 'sorry' card when I go out this morning.I have to collect yet another med, the text came through too late to go yesterday so I'll get it from the pharmacy vending machine. Apart from that my day is clear. Wish the day were. More white sky, drizzle and sappy mugginess. However, it's not the torrential rain we were told about so I will be thankful.I hope that everyone is doing well. Hugs to all.PS @Taff - can I use those lovely pink flowerheads from the Sambucus nigra be used to make elderflower cordial?

Morning all
Back from Wales now, a damp few days but an exciting walk yesterday which involved some scrambling and a raging river.Loads to do today ready for the return of DM and DD plus visitors later in the week.Happy Sunday all

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Yesterday the promised thunderstorms never happened. All we got was a few spits and spots mid morning and same mid afternoon. At this rate I can foresee the hosepipe ban happening soon.
SCARLET I was sorry you have had to get rid of your caravan, but enjoy the new sort of holidays instead. When my lovely Bob got his C diagnosis and following treatments we had to forego our overseas holidays and we replaced them with coach trips around the UK. I was convinced it wouldn't be for us but it was and we loved them! We also still had the caravan for regular breaks too as that never moved from it's permanent site.
SS with DS this morning but other than that nothing planned for the rest of the day. Unlike tomorrow when I'll be up and at 'em very early doors waiting for the taxi for my trip for my left eye doing. I have an "escort" too as neither DS or DD can do the honours. My bus buddy has insisted I'll need someone with me and despite my objections she is coming with me for moral support! So she is to pick up too. She only lives one road up from me so quite nearby.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning everyone just waiting for them all to land for farthest day it will be beer and Maltesers his favourite things although my daughter and my daughter in law won’t be coming as they are both in bed with chest infections and raging sore throat’s both off work and they never miss a day there is a lot of people I’ll with it and of course my other daughter in law won’t come because she’s probably not speaking to us again who knows with that girl she won’t be missed it’s got to a stage nobody even mentions her now . I’ve got the chimney sweep this afternoon who will keep us amused with his songs and his poems it will be like a mad house I got everything cleaned inside and out yesterday in between showers it has to be warm the rest of the week and getting hotter. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet.
It was lovely and sunny when I woke up so stripped the bed and put it out but it's back in now after a shower, may try again later.
I decided yesterday that the seal on the shower floor could do with replacing so scraped it all out and left it to dry properly. I've just put the new sealant down - I use a clear one now as I'm not very good and the white just looks too messy! May give it another go later then let it dry. I can have a bath this morning.
Picked lots of broad beans at the allotment yesterday but must have left them there, I'll go back and see if they are still there this morning on my way to do some shopping. The rest of the day was spent doing serious housework - just the living room, hall and both bathroms to do today. My knees were sore from washing the floors, they needed more than a mop!
Glad you had a good time Allie.
Have a good time WL.
Hope you can all enjoy a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX

Morning all from a sunny at the moment Mehefinland
Yesterday's plant sale at my little library went well although not so many people in attendance this year. Stacks of stuff left unsold unfortunately - my garden is stuffed with the spares I had left when I potted them all on so it looks like the local primary will be getting a hefty donation tomorrow! It might brighten the place up a bit after the fire and it's aftermath. The worst bit has now been demolished and there are discussions on going at a higher level as to what happens next!! Last I heard they were having some temporary classrooms put in the grounds ready for next term. I remember temporary classrooms of old- still there 30years later.
Might go to the beach litter pick later. It's a different beach with high cliffs and a stream down the middle. I haven't been there for over 30 years even though it is on the doorstep (well about 3 miles). It seems to be the case though that things that are very local to you get forgotten. There is also a Riding club qualifying event on at the club which Dawn was a founder member of, and I really ought to make the effort to go and help. Just think it might be a bit too emotional today.
Had a card from DS and found myself tearing up (eyes not rip!!) Silly how things trigger me.
Hope the poodles are getting better. Must go and do something in the garden whilst I can
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning all and thanks @Scarlet for today's thread. Yesterday's weather wasn't at all what we told to expect; it was cloudy until midday then the sun came out, it didn't rain until about 9.30pm and that was only a gentle and short shower. No thunder either. This morning started with high cloud, sunny intervals are forecast and it should stay dry. The rest of the week is looking good too.
The less vigorous tasks I promised myself yesterday consisted of cleaning the kitchen worktops/small electricals and alternating between knitting, cross stitch, reading and TV. I set the timer on my phone to remind me to get up and move around every half hour so I didn't seize up altogether and my hip feels much improved today (so far). Today's plans are fluid. I've had an appointment letter for my annual diabetic eye screening next month - expected but not especially welcome! The day/date are fine but, as usual, the venue isn't so that will need to be changed. Another one for the To Do list. Dinner tonight is cottage pie with braised red cabbage, afters as yet undecided.
@TA - Best wishes for tomorrow and bless your bus buddy/escort for her support. You'll soon be able to see all the dust!
@WL - I hope you and your DSiL enjoy your trip around North Yorkshire this week. Lovely place, but I would say that, wouldn't I?
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there (or good memories of those who are no longer with us), have an enjoyable Sunday. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13
