Self-employed, part-time, ADHD masters student - really struggling for money

Hey everyone,

I'm hitting a bit of a rough patch financially and could use some advice. I'm a freelancer, and unfortunately, work has dried up significantly.

On top of that, I'm a part-time Master's student. I also have ADHD, and I'm currently going through a DSA (Disabled Students' Allowance) review to get recommendations for software and other support. So far they've said I'll get study support and some noise-cancelling headphones for focus!

My main concern is that taking on a part-time job to bridge the financial gap would really impact my self-employment and my Master's studies, especially with my ADHD. I'm fortunate that I live with my mum, but our bills have gotten worse and I'm running out of income to help my mum.

My freelance work is my passion, and I'm worried a fixed part-time role would make it difficult for me to focus on that and my degree. Freelance has been brilliant in the past, with huge clients. Having ADHD meds is helping, so once the ball is rolling again - I'll be able to network better.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any suggestions on how I can navigate this? I'm open to any ideas!

Thanks in advance.

Agency work rather than a fixed part-time role?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Why, if your work has 'dried up significantly'? A temporary role (even if in a different field) with flexible hours is usually the answer for many people who have similar short-term financial problems and don't want to commit longer term.

I hope the meds do their job well and you're soon back networking and growing your freelance activities again - but for now, from the sound of it, you aren't in a position to be too picky.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
